Good quality, exactly as advertised.
Very nice. Exactly as advertised: a deep, rich velvet with a durable fabric that is suitable for upholstry. I was using the black to line a display cabinet, and it does that job very well!

Velvet fabric
Sent me a swatch; was light enough to use in my quilt (making from satin tablecloths). They were very helpful, price was great and the widty was 54" instead of 45"! The price is less than half of most velvet fabric. Sews well.

Perfect Furniture upholstery
I ordered a different velvet fabric and returned it because the pile was too low. (Would have been great to make a jacket out of) I ordered this to replace it. I used it on the velvet headboard of a bed. It not only worked but matched the existing velvet almost perfectly.

Black Beauty
Vastly superior to what I've bought from a local fabric shop. This material has a nice backing that black velvet I've used in the past didn't. I used this to make a small cover on the dash of my car to conceal some wires that go to my dash cam, and the black material has also helped cut down on glare from the top of the dash too.

Makes a decent backdrop
I do macro photography and like black backgrounds. This works decent. It isn't plush or soft velvet but the price point is much better.

Opaque
The fabric is more like think flocking than soft velvet. It is opaque and could be used to block light. It worked great for a backdrop. Would not be good for pillows.

Not velvet
If I could give zero stars I would. This is not velvet AT ALL. Feels and looks more like felt. Don’t buy if you’re wanting velvet.

Great for jewelry display... not what I would expect for upholstery.
"Upholstery" is a misleading term here. I would go with "jewelry display" instead. The "fabric" is stiff and plastic-feeling. Probably water proof. It does not fray. The backing is shiny and smoother than I expected, though not vinyl backed. The face has such a short napp I wouldn't even really want to call it velvet. It has no directional napp to speak of. It feels just like the inside of a jewelry box or those ring display boards you see vendors using so often. It can't be easily (if at all) scraped off like the flocking-style coating it so resembles, but it doesn't *feel* any higher quality.I don't know... maybe it would make great upholstery fabric. It seems pretty durable so far. I just wouldn't want to make a couch out of it.
