Beautiful soap from the Sub Continent!
It's probably 30 years since I last used genuine Indian Sandal wood soap.This is really lovely. I was a tad worried about some of the reviews, especially when I looked at the images of various sellers to find the same basic soap box with an 'exclusive', 'premium' and 'superior' - is there a difference in quality with each of these banners? The one I bought was 'exclusive' and arrived within 48 hours of ordering, which (even though the seller was in Leicester) I thought was pretty fast work. The soap? Gorgeous. I'm half way through it now and it is keeping both its scent and its shape, which is more than can be said for many Brit soaps. Yes it's quirky (its imprinted with 'government soap works etc..'but it's very very nice soap. I'm on a bit of a mission now to explore all those banners on different boxes to see if there really is a difference. I'll report back for everyone accordingly. In the meantime... I hope this helped!

Lovely soaps, beautiful scent.
Received my order in the mail today and am very pleased with the items. The soaps have a beautiful scent, not too overpowering. I love the embossed stamps on the soaps themselves that says 'Govt Soap Factory, Bangalore'. I grew up in Malaysia and had Indian neighbours when I was little. The scent from this soap takes me back to those days as they often use sandalwood soap for bathing as well as doing their laundry.

Smells nice, but that's about it.
Expensive for what it is. Very average soap. Works fine, smell/perfume about average. I expected more depth to the smell, something more intense and luxurious. But it's really very ordinary for the price.

my favourite for many years
I first used this soap over 30 years ago (found it in the bathroom of an Indian friend) - still cracks me up that government soap factory is "printed "on it - such a lovely smell evoking tropical nights and perfumed palaces. I am allergic to sandalwood oil perfume and my sandalwood necklace that I bought in Mysore brings me out in a rash round my neck (I still occasionally wear it as it's so pretty) but have no problem at all with this. Will be buying again. Absolutely gorgeous :-)

Disappointing product
Awful product. Does not remotely smell of sandalwood, but has an astringent, chemical sort of smell. Very disappointed. ,
