Excellent Game!
It may have a huge rule book, but the rules themselves are mostly intuitive. My girlfriend was able to get playing confidently with just a few questions after I explained it to her. If you are intimidated by these types of games, fear not. And if you're looking for something with strategy and layered gameplay then it's just the type of engaging you're looking for. We both loved it, the minis are great and the game flows very nicely. Be warned: the game rewards aggressive play. If you play passively for too long you WILL get cooked before you know it. Both players are essentially racing against each other to score their own different types of points. The only negative for me is there's no really attractive option for storing the pieces - you either spend half an hour placing each mini back in its original plastic container or you just throw everything in the box and pray a sword doesn't break off. And all the storage bins for this game available online cost about as much as the game itself. I don't think any of the expansions or exclusive content is necessary unlike others have suggested, but if you're like me and you enjoy the game you'll find a reason to shell out anyway.

Let the Spice Flow
If you want an epic war game that is very thematic then look no further than this gem. Step into the role of the Fremen or Harkkonen and battle for supremacy with variable player powers and area control.

He Who Controls The Dice Controls The Game
This game is certainly NOT a re-skin of War of the Ring. For anyone who has played War of the Ring you will recognize the DNA of that game in Dune: War for Arrakis. The game play is much quicker. A typical game goes for one to two hours. As of the time of this review I've played six games with and even split of 3 to 3 for Harkonnen wins and Atreides wins. Four of the six games were very close and went down to the final play. The one drawback is the price. However, for that price you get a lot of excellent, details miniatures, nicely printed cards, markers, organized rulebook, and map board. I recommend this to anyone who enjoys "dudes on a map" war game, the Dune universe, and/or asymmetrical war games.

A beautiful and excellent tabletop game!
What immediately attracted me to this game is its beautiful design and attention to detail. The game recreates the struggle in the distant future between powerful political and military forces of the distant future. The players can chose sides in this planet wide conflict by commanding one of the Great Houses of the Great Galactic Empire. The year is 10,191 A.G. By using the forces and resources available to the players in the game, each player fights for control of the most precious substance in the universe. The game seems initially complex, but once you learn the rules, it flows very well with many interesting outcomes!

Good
Lots of figures. The figures are smaller than the typical minifigures of the hobby, so painting is difficult.

Asymmetrical combat with a good grasp of the guerrilla
It’s a worthwhile game, but you’ll need to spend some time learning the rules before you play it. By “some” time I mean about an hour, because this game’s asymmetry means you’ll be explaining quirks of both sides. But once it’s happening, it’s great, and few games could capture the quirks of guerrilla warfare against large armies so well.

Excellent game!
I was tempted to give the game 4 stars initially as the box came a bit banged up (not Amazon’s fault) and the player boards are actually a thin cardstock rather than cardboard, I know this isn’t the kickstarter edition but I would expect a little more quality from CMON… Having said this, the game is excellent and immersive, you’ll enjoy it whether you’re a fan of Dune or not.

Very Immersive, excellent evocative components
Very impressed by the quality of this game. It all feels evocative although others more familiar with the Dune setting may say differently. It all makes you want to play. There are quite a lot of rules and complexity to get used to. Its worth watching some playthroughs on You Tube if you can. I'm planning to paint the minis as they are just screaming out at me to do so, but its not neccessary. Recommended.
