Not so washable
I love crayola crayons. I really enjoy the triangle shape so that the little ones aren’t constantly laughing as the crayons roll across the table. And I really appreciate the fact that when crayola says their crayons are washable, they mean that. But…This time, they weren’t quite so washable. If it wasn’t for a white erase scrub pad (so very thankful for Mr. Clean!) I’d probably still be scrubbing the violet scribbles from my wall. Every other time I’ve cleaned washable crayon from a wall, cabinet or table top I have had no issue (you can’t turn your back for a second) but not so this time. And I’ve bought the exact same crayons before and not had this problem. Was it the color (violet instead of red)? Was there a change in formula? Was there a packaging mistake? No clue. But this particular set of crayons have now gone by the wayside and will be replaced.Fingers are crossed that it was a packaging mistake but I’ll be checking before I turn the 3 year old loose with the crayons again.

Okay for my toddler
They were okay. My kid broke the tips off of them and snapped them in half. Needed to go with a fatter crayon for him. Probably work better for kids over the age of 2.

Beautiful!
Especially for BOYS!!! These are with three flat sides so they do not roll off preschool slanted desks. (Can you believe even one expensive prep school could manage to supply toddlers with desks that have no slots for writing supplies).

A bad review? For CRAYONS???? REALLY?
I never thought that I would be giving a negative review for an 8 pack of toddler crayons. It seems very basic and simple, correct? I gave them 3 stars because the crayons are as described by Amazon, they arrived on time, and they do lay down color nicely. As seen in the photos, here are my 2 issues with these crayons: 1) the red crayon arrived with the tip broken off. How disappointing, even for a toddler. 2) the paper slides down as you're coloring, on every single crayon. They slide in both directions. I never noticed that happening with regular Crayola crayons. I don't know why it's happening now, but it's very frustrating for both me and my two-year-old grandson. Isn't there a way to prevent this? Or did we just get a bad batch or pack???

White powder but quick response from Crayola
So I too received the box and noticed white milky powder on some of the Crayons. I set them aside and planned to return them rather disappointed. But, I thought I'd give the manufacturer a call as I grew up with Crayola, as many did of course.I had to wait until Monday during business hours, but I was shocked at literally zero hold time. The rep was easy to understand and incredibly polite and helpful. She stated that she did know what it was and that is was safe. She said that it is called "bloom" and it is similar to when hard chocolate gets some white discoloration. She stated that with the crayons, sometimes paraffin (wax) separates a little and comes to the surface. It comes out in the little dots to form the white milky powder, but it is just wax from the crayon that has separated and been drawn to the surface. It sounds quite believable to me, but feel free to judge for yourself. The crayons are perfect so far for my son, easy to hold and seemed like a normal but large crayon to me. So I gave 5 stars since the disappointment was offset by fast and courteous customer support.I took a star off the "giftable" category though because it could be unsettling to receive as a gift and not know what was going on.

Fits in toddlers hands very well!
I love these crayons! They don’t roll away, and they fit their hand very well. These teach kids how to hold the crayon properly.

The crayon wraps just slip off
Within literally 5 minutes the first crayon broke! I sat watching my toddler coloring with these and the purple crayon just snapped in half. She looked at it puzzled. Then the papers kept slipping off while she tried to color with them. I also pitched the Melissa and Dough toddler triangular crayons set for her as well. For now I will be using those with caution as they look like they could put an eye out. Maybe going to try the pricey beeswax crayons next. They look sturdy and not as sharp. This crayon set from crayons is extremely disappointing and I don’t see them lasting more than a couple of days. The wraps just won’t stay on and that is part of what helps keep them from breaking (most of the time), the purple one snapped with wrapper still in place.
