Wow, my son loves this paddle! Everyone in my family is a newbie when it comes to paddle boarding. We put in a pond, and we thought besides canoeing and fishing, we'd try paddle boarding on the pond. So, based upon the good reviews of this paddle, I ordered one for my son. After using this paddle board several times, I think this paddle is perfect for a beginner - it's light, it floats when you drop it in the water, it's easy to grip the handle, and it's adjustable so I could get it the exact length I wanted it to be for my son. This paddle came in three different pieces which allows it to extend from 67 inches all the way to 85 inches. This allows me (an adult) to use this paddle as well as my son. I also thought this paddle was really affordable especially based upon the quality of the paddle. I can't think of any negatives at all related to this paddle. My son has used it several times already and really love it. I actually ordered a similar paddle from this same company for me so we can go paddle boarding around the pond together. Does paddle was exactly what we needed! My son broke his paddle out in the middle of the lake, and I had to drag him back on my kayak. We ordered this as a replacement, and it works perfectly. You can adjust the size based on how tall you are. The paddle floats, as it should. I ordered an extra to have on hand just in case we have another casualty but so far haven’t needed it :)

We bought the paddle 3 months ago and it was fine until the paddle broke off the pole. We took it on an 11 mile paddle and the head of the paddle snapped off about 6 miles in for no apparent reason. We take care of our boards and equipment very well so it was so strange to have it snap off after a swift paddle. Might be a good paddle for less strong adults who have a less strong paddle, but for me it didn’t hold up.

At first I was very frustrated when I received this item because it came without any directions, and I couldn't see how to adjust the length. I found a You tube video that explained how to unlatch the hidden pin by pressing on the plastic collar with your thumbs. Poor choice not to include directions. However, I am extremely pleased with the paddle itself.It is actually perfect for a slightly unconventional additional use. I recently bought a 21 foot sailboat, and when I first launched it, both the wind and the outboard motor failed, and I found myself literally "up a creek (actually a canal) without a paddle." because my boat has a relatively high freeboard, a conventional paddle is not practical and is very awkward to use. With this very long adjustable paddle, I can extend it so as to comfortably stand in the cockpit of my boat and paddle it the short distance it takes to get to open water outside the marina where I keep the boat. I am having the motor fixed and ordinarily will use it, but having this paddle as a backup is quite handy and effective. It is also very important that it is adjustable and breaks down into three pieces so it can easily be stored out of the way when not needed, otherwise I wouldn't want to keep it in my small boat, in which case it would be useless. Excellent product.

Original review: The paddle worked very well for the first couple trips. And then it started to take the water in in the lower section that is supposed to be water tight. As a result, after being dropped in the water couple times, it takes in enough water to loose buoyancy. Had to rescue the paddle from sinking.. I will probably be able to solve it by pouring a bunch of epoxy to seal the plug they have in the shaft. Additionally, the height adjustment worked easy and smooth, but now the clip gets stuck, requires force and being thin plastic, might be on its way to the undertaker soon. Crappy craftsmanship.Update July 10, 2017. The vendor / manufacture got in touch with me following my original 2-star review, they offered their apologies for the defective product and sent me a replacement paddle free of charge. I really appreciate this level of attention to their customer and it makes me think that I might have a received a lemon in the first place. I paddled about 10 hours with a replacement paddle, left it floating in the water for extended periods of time and so far have no issues.Advice to myself and others: if you have an issue with their products - contact the Alloy directly, they will likely resolve the issue to your satisfaction.

I bought 2 paddles to replace the paddles that came with our boards. I cannot say enough good things about this paddle!! Our previous paddle had a rubber type blade that did not work in choppy water or for power stroking. We paddle 3-4 times a week and this paddle with its rigid blade is amazing and the price is perfect when you need 2 of everything. We can paddle thru choppy water without ever slowing down. Waves...piece of cake and smooth water we just sail. Truly they changed our paddle game.😁

But not this one! It floats! And literally our kids lost our first one in a matter of weeks and they have kept this one around! It’s also adjustable! Little big for kids but still is great for them!
