THRILLS, SORCERY, ACTION - WITH SILENT SCREAMS HAS IT ALL!
The third book of the Hellequin Chronicles continues the gripping mix of modern day urban fantasy and mythology without once slackening pace. Nate Garret is a 1600 year old sorcerer, once feared as Merlin's Assassin until he tired of being an on demand killer. But it seems that the quiet life he seeks is not meant to be his, and killing his friends is a sure fire way to get his attention. With his powers increasing, Nate is asked to help a friend, King of Shadow Falls. But King Galahad, has been very sparing with the truth, leaving his good friend in a whole mess of trouble. For the one they call Hellequin, the result is an ever present danger; but to readers is one action packed page after another. One more chapter in the seven volume thriller, laced with typical Steve McHugh humour.

Slaughterfest.
Following the narrative structure for the last two books the story is split into a present time/past timeline. In the past Nate investigates a serial killer kidnapping tatooed people. In the present he has to track down someone continuing the killing spree - despite the original killer being held in prison in another dimension. We visit one of the alternate dimensions that make up the many magical worlds around our own, a power struggle over who gets to rule it is playing out in the present and the past.Very bloody, Main issue is that nate seems way overpowered now and continues to get even more powerful. I guess since we have Hades and such being he should really be upping his game to their level , not beating up thugs. Well written and enjoyable , will continue to follow this series.

Three winners out of Three
Just finished the 3rd and hopefully not final of the excellent Hellequin Chronicles Kindle books and it was every bit as good as the previous 2. No idea how long Steve McHugh has been writing but I must find any other stuff he's done because this stuff is addictive! Main protagonist Nate Garrett has been around a VERY long time, and has done some very nasty things, but you still just know that he's actually one of the good guys. In this book you'll meet werelions and cave trolls who are as bad as you can imagine, but then likeable and even sexy vampires and wood trolls that you'll feel desperately sorry for. I don't often get to say this, but this is a book I really didn't want to put down. I'm looking forward to the next one and can't recommend it highly enough.

Excellent urban fantasy
Steve McHugh keeps up the good work and produces and excellent sequel to Crimes Against Magic. Happily McHugh has avoided that difficult second album trap and produced a novel that builds on the good work of its predecessor. The main character continues to develop in all the right directions, new characters are engaging and the plot moves along at the right speed. For me the author has managed to integrate flashbacks into the narrative flawlessly something that other authors struggle with and something that can really ruin a book for me when done poorly.McHugh has solidfied himself as one of my authors to watch and l look forward to reading the next in the series. If you are a fan of the Dresden files you will love this British take on the genre.

Amazing yet terrifying
Fast paced ,exciting, sexy, energetic, engaging and unputdownable. The story takes our hero to new magical realms to face new and old villains as well as introduce us to new friends and even species. As good as the first two and unique as a stand alone

Another great Hellequin novel
I pre-ordered this but delayed reading it until I had a clear day as I suspected I would not want to put it down once I started. Good call! At first I found the two time periods of the plot interrupted the flow of the story, but once I settled into the pace it flowed well and kept the momentum going.I try to avoid spoilers but think it's safe to say that the theme of betrayal is a key part of this particular story arc. The twists and turns help the reader to penetrate the complexity of the Hellequin, peeling away some of the layers to reveal more about this strange, powerful being. Dark urban fantasy at its best.

Please
Well written but too many body parts flying around for my taste. But the mention of Richard iii and Henry vii was one I thoroughly agreed with.In the 20th century Josephine Tey wrote a wonderful murder mystery novel on the subject, and I would pay full tote if in the 21st century I could read a sorcorer/necromancer novel on the same.

Hellequin 3
I am totally hooked on this series. The characters have grabbed me and wrapped their consciousness around mine. I feel the pain and despair that Nate does go through at various points. Very well written. I am looking forward to Book 4 and have also found out there is a novella of this series that is available as a Kindle purchase. I will read and review this as well. Great series...love it Mr McHugh. Again....keep 'em coming.

Keep getting better!
Absolutely loved this book! Really enjoying the series, it just keeps getting better. Just when I thought I have it worked out, turns out I am wrong. Characters are just written really well, considering the number of them they are written in a way that you can follow the story and not get too lost in remembering who is who. Can't wait to read the next book!

Beaucoup d'actions.

good enough
I found the book harder to get into than previous hellequin stories; I was not as invested. However, it was good enough and if you like the other two books in the series, check it out.
