These are so gorgeous and soft! They put my MAC and even Tom Ford brushes to shame! They are shorter than most brushes, about 6 inches. The large brush is a good size for powder, blush, countour, or highlight even. The larger or the two eye brushes is a flat shader brush (similar to a MAC 239) that would be good for packing on lid color. The smallest brush is quite small and would be great for smudging and smoking out eyeliner on the bottom lash line or applying shadow to the upper or lower lash line. The little brush roll is perfect, it is a pocket that folds with a string that wraps around. The attention to detail is impeccable, with even the hardware on the end of the string on the brush roll being slightly curved to make it easier to slip under the rest of the string to tie it closed. The handles are shiny black laquer over wood with a silver colored ferrule that say Hakuhodo along with the brush number. These brushes are so beautiful, I really can't recommend them enough!

Unlike the photo, 004 and 005 are white brushes (I assume they are goat hairs). I suppose they don't affect using, but just not what I have expected.

Hakuhodo does a wonderful job on their brushes. I had purchased a brush when visiting Japan and I love it. Glad to buy another set here. Its quality, softness, and travel size are unbeatable features compared to other brands.
