I bought a tracker for our kitten that was sold as a cat tracker but I started to notice it was saying he was in areas miles from where we live which was impossible. When I looked into this further I found that they should not be used for cats so did a bit more research and found Tractive to be the gold standard tracker for cats. I'm really worried about our little boy crossing the road behind our house and this tracker has a function that allows you to set virtual 'fences' so that you get alerts if they go within that area. I know it won't stop our boy going there but it settles my mind knowing that he is not going across the road very often. Our boy is quite wee at almost 1yr old and I would say that is my only gripe with this tracker as it is quite bulky. It does however have a good rechargable battery life and we have only needed to charge it once since we got it around 1-2 weeks ago. We choose to remove it when he comes in at night for comfort but to be fair although bulky he actually doesn't seem to mind at all. I have found this tracker to be extremely accurate and have actually done some tests to check and it is pretty spot on. I hate having to pay another subscription but it is worth it for peace of mind as Salem is a VERY loved wee boy. It also has helpful features monitoring health and the leaderboard and other cat info is good fun. I bought a couple of extra rubber covers but actually the one that come with it seems pretty durable. It was also easy to set up and was compatible with my husband and I's android/Samsung phone sand my kids iphones. I feel price wise this is a good quality product but the subscription prices are a rubbish. Overall however, I would purchase this again for peace of mind and accuracy alone.

After having this product on two of my cats for a while now I can write an honest review. My two raggies are outdoor cats who enjoy exploring and these trackers definitely give me peace of mind. It looks huge on my kitten, but he doesn’t seem bothered by it at all, it’s not overly heavy and doesn’t put any strain on his neck or drag down. It fits lovely on my two year old and again he doesn’t bother with it or realise it’s there. Set up was very quick and easy to do and within 5 mins the tracker was set up and working, with no signal issues, even being in the north east of Scotland. You can set up a safe zone, and it will notify you if your cat leaves this zone, and when they’re at home it connects to the WiFi and enters power saving mode which helps save the battery from depleting. I have noticed that as soon as they leave the safe zone the battery just goes soooo quickly. Mine was away to the vet yesterday and the thirty mins we were gone the battery has used close to 20%, so please bare that in mind if your cat regularly wanders from home for days that the battery won’t last their adventures. Honestly it does the job, and allows me the peace of mind I need. You could also use this to quite easily track your children when they are out playing and it works better than the Vodafone tracker with a significantly more accurate map too!

Really happy with the purchase, this is our third cat tracker. We have upgraded from Apple tags which do not allow accurate tracking living in a rural environment. The tracking app is very good and allows us to see where our boys are at anytime. It amazed us just how far they roam, hunting in the fields around our house. The gps sim subscription does seem very expensive but we don’t smoke or drink and peace of mind is so worth it. I still do not understand the virtual fence and how to set it up effectively but that would require reading the instructions. Very easy to set up via the app and doesn’t seem to inhibit the cats movements. Battery life isn’t brilliant 2 days to 3 days so monitoring battery status is important as when it does go flat you lose sight of where the cats are. And such as everything nowadays you need a smart phone for full functionality.

This is not a proper GPS tracker and it failed to track even at intervals when my cat left the house. In addition, when she was in the house the app showed ‘no GPS signal’ so again failed to provide any location information! The battery drains rapidly if you try to use all of the features so it has to be charged daily. That’s okay if you and cat are together at the same time, although as it fails to track anyway, being charged doesn’t make any real difference. It is quite heavy for a small cat and in fairness they do recommend animals of more than 3 kg. The app did not produce a proper history of movements and there is no realtime tracking either. Overall a complete bust. I would note that I live in a rural area and perhaps this functions better in cities. Regardless, it was sold as being a GPS tracker and it doesn’t provide location information. The photo shows that at just after 3pm the last information logged was at 10.40 in the morning. The cat could have made it anywhere in those hours.

Our adventurous cat managed to slip the collar 3 times in the first week, finally in an inaccessible place. So, the safety catch works, but perhaps a little too well, despite checking the fit and weight setting after each loss. We decided to cancel the subscription and not replace it, as she obviously wasn't going to keep it on. It was good to see her territory, when she was wearing it. However, when she lost it, the accuracy of the Bluetooth was not enough to find it. The signal 'hops' around. We had to go to the woodland at twilight and use the light feature to track it down. The battery did last longer than expected though. The noise is inaudible for the purposes of finding it in woodland. Customer service was good though, when I sought to cancel the subscription.

Tractive are the best by far that we have used. When our cat snagged her collar in inaccessible gorse, I managed to locate the area, but the gorse was so dense I couldn’t get in without a machete (I’m being literal). The accuracy, though? Better than personal GPS. So we ordered a new one and it was here in 24 hours. She shook the collar, somehow, yesterday, and I was able to go out and locate it, practically to the square inch, using the Live and Radar features. This reinforced the accuracy, and we can always track her return to her home turf, when the rain starts, with pinpoint precision. Sound could be louder, it has to be admitted, but you’ll rarely find a product that is entirely perfect. It has to be quiet to hear it, but given the size, I’d sooner have the pinpoint accuracy than sacrifice any other existing feature for a more audible beep! Besides, the light helps, when dusk comes down, and it’s loud enough that I heard it, yesterday, when searching (albeit just, and not while traffic was passing). That being said, I wouldn’t trust my lovely Maine Coon to anything else, as it shows where she spends her day, for how long and plots her health and favourite spots, as well. For the price, and with such ridiculously low subscription fees, you know your pet is totally safe with these compact, quick-charging trackers. The range is good, as long as there is WiFi, they use satellite maps, are extraordinarily strong and durable (our old unit was run over by a speeding nutjob, when my wife dropped the tracker, having taken it off the cat, while taking her to the cattery, and it showed zero ill effects, working perfectly up until it’s aforementioned loss). Tractive are also very easy to contact and provide assistance, with any issues. I would not go anywhere else, now. Recommended, 1000%!!

We have a small cat so have always been put off by tracker collars due to size. Our little one refuses to wear any other collar and constantly lost them. However, she went missing a few weeks back and we never want to go through that again. Hence buying a tracking collar! This one exceeded our expectations, decent tracking level, nice to see the history of her travels and battery life works well for us (she stays in overnight so we take it off and charge it then). Would definitely reccomend if you want to keep an eye on your cat. Obviously it’s not tiny, but it’s the smallest one we found with good reviews and we are happy with it, it doesn’t seem to bother her much she is still catching things (despite the bell) and doesn’t fight us when we put it on in the morning!

Battery life is good, you’ll need to set up the safe zone as it self charges, the accuracy is pretty stop on, I was looking for our little cat, stated he was front of the house and he was up the tree 🙄. Now the subscription I thought it was monthly but you have to sign up for 2 or 5 years, you can sign up monthly but it’s £13.50, I signed up £13.50 to see how it goes and will change over to the 2 yearly one when I’m happy to do so. Hope this helps, great fun to watch where you little fur baby are and you get to see how active they are and how much sleep they have, I get notifications on my Apple Watch stating that my cat is out of the safe zone. So set up those safe zones. I’ve also set up the no go zones. Oh and it’s not heavy either.

Un invento magnífico. Nuestro gato vive bastante salvaje, ya que vivimos en una zona con mucho campo, y antes siempre estábamos preocupados cuando no regresaba en varias horas. Ahora sabemos en todo momento dónde está, conocemos su territorio y entendemos mucho mejor sus hábitos cuando no está en casa. La batería dura sorprendentemente bien para lo pequeño que es, sobre todo utilizando el modo de ahorro de energía, que aun así permite activar el seguimiento en tiempo real cuando se necesita. La aplicación es intuitiva, muy completa y fácil de usar.

Facile à utiliser Une très bonne couverture GPS précise. Peut-être une autonomie de batterie un peu légère mais il faut que je teste plus longtemps. J'ai acheté le modèle pour chat car j'ai équipé un chiot. Par rapport à un tracker Invoxia, je trouve que le Tractive Chat est un peu lourd.

Bulky but effective

I feel very cheated. I purchased the tractive cat collar on amazon. On the website, I made sure to check, it states "monthly subscription starting 4.50" and I did more research on it and saw some prices go up to 6-10 euros on average. I know 6 euros a month adds up, but it's only 6 euros a month and I can afford that just fine, but then I go to set the account up, all is fine and well, I wanted the 6 euro A MONTH for 5 years premium plan, and then it says "pay €360 😊" I don't have 360 euros on me to spend for a 5 year subscription?? If it was in monthly increments under some contract that 'after 2 months you cannot unsubscribe until contract is over or there will be a termination fee' yada yada, I'd be like "yeah, cool, makes sense". But 360 off the bat??? Everywhere I looked it said the GPS subscription was monthly. This is an absolute joke. I feel so horribly cheated. I now have, a collar that's useless, wasted money, and a horrible experience and feeling. This is blatant explotation of "pay small monthly fee" and then you get the product and expect people to go "oh.. well I already have the collar I spent an unfair amount of money on, and love my furry friend so I might as well.."
