Good quality of the price
I really like these shoes, since I have wide feet getting 4e's is a hassle and I was limited to New Balance or Sketchers before finding out asic had 4e as well, sketchers always fell apart and New Balance would only last slightly longer but be $20 more. I wear shoes into the ground and i've bought these twice now they last about a year one me before they start degrading which is really good for a shoe i wear 8-12 hrs a day 365 days a year.

On my fifth pair in a row, they’re that good
We have ordered five pairs of these because my son loves them so much—every time his feet grow he just wants a new pair of this exact same style. Comfortable, go with everything and built to last!

Not bad but far from what Asics used to put out
I've had Asics gel contend shoes since the 3rd version. 3 and 4 were the best built. 5 and 6 were pretty crappy. These are acceptable and I find myself wearing them more than expected. Stock laces aren't awful like on the past few iterations. Good shoe at $40-$50, not so much if paying more than that. I'd rather consume these cheaper Asics than pay 3x for the higher end Asics that don't last much longer and quite honestly aren't much better built. The ugly black Gel Contend walking shoes were the best but seem to be discontinued. At least these looks decent.

For wide feet.
I can't use most running shoes because I have wide feet, but these work well for me. Lightweight and breathable like any good running shoe. Generous padding should last many miles.

Excellent walking shoes
About a year ago, I began having aching ankles and leg muscles that limited my walking when on vacation, etc. I had been wearing Asics squash shoes on the court for many years and then used the older shoes for walking. Based on reading a number of articles about walking shoes, I tried using these Asics running/walking shoes. The problem is now gone. I do insert heel cups to further lessen the heel impact.
