Avery Sporting Dog Canvas Training Bumper – Durable, Water-Resistant Training Dummy for Hunting Dogs

Canvas bumper arrived when expected. Small bumper is perfect for introducing young dogs to bumper work. I have used this bumper for the past few months with four pups and it show no signs of wear. I have used other puppy bumpers but I like this one over others because it comes with an attached rope and no grommet that I had to thread my own rope through. Nothing fancy but does what it is advertised to do.

It is just what I needed to introduce my Golden Retriever to swimming in the lake. The week before he would only go knee deep in the water but with this Bumper he jumped right in to get it. It is well made and fits his mouth well.

Nylon cover and weighted bumper. Dog likes it a lot.

Stitching on both dummies came apart on second training session. Poor quality sewing. Do not buy! Learn from my experience! I emailed the company and got customer NO service. DO NOT BUY!!!!

My retriever loves these dummies and we ONLY use them for working. The cord is quite a bit shorter than my previous dummy from ASD. After about 10 throws, the cord started unraveling. A little disappointed.

Two long days for training the lab pup. even with him chewing on it before i could get it from him, these are tough bumpers. i bought two but the first one still looks brand new. of course these arent toys for my dog, they only get used for training.

A 5-star rating by me but our dog would give these bumpers "10" stars. These bumpers hold up very well as she has destroyed other bumpers in a very short time. I am very satisfied with the Avery & will purchase again, if needed.

Well, I downgraded from 4 stars to 2 after my latest purchase pretty much fell apart after only about 3-4 outings. I've used Avery bumpers for years. The canvas varieties do have some sewing/seam issues and the HexaBumper is much more robust. I've got some canvas 2" and 3", and a some 2" and 3" HexaBumpers. Laying them out on the floor, my dog will always pick the 2" HexaBumper. I was concerned about the hardness of the rubber-type material and the possibility of accidentally hitting her with a throw, but the HexaBumpers are much more durable than the canvas types, and will last for years without any sign of degrading. And obviously, it's popular with the pup! The 2" HexaBumper seems to be the ideal size, and the 3" overly large - a real mouthful - and quite heavy. The 2" has an ideal weight which allows me to throw it very long distances with the attached nylon cord. The 3" feels cumbersome and increases my concerns of an accident (like hitting a car door!) As far as the canvas bumpers go, the 2" is OK, but feels too small, even though it's the same size as the ideal HexaBumper. It does not have the mass of rubber, of course, but it's weighted on one end with gravel ballast. The 3" canvas feels overly large, and is definitely way too light. It does not appear to have as much, or any ballast, and I can throw it only about half as far as the 2" canvas and 1/3 as far as the 2" HexaBumper. I think a properly weighted 2.5" canvas bumper would be the ideal canvas complement to the 2" HexaBumper.

Ein super Dummy. Mein Hund liebt ihn. Er ist sehr gut verarbeitet, also kein 0815 Produkt. Ich hatte bislang immer günstigere Dummies gekauft und mich geärgert das sie kaum eine Woche überlebten. Also investierte ich mal etwas mehr und es überzeugte mich. Das Orange ist schön leuchtend, sodass man ihn auch gut wiederfinden kann im Wald. 😂 Super ist auch, dass man diesen Dummy im Vergleich zu den günstigen Ausführungen gut abspülen kann. Er trocknet auch recht schnell. Ich kann ihn also nur empfehlen und möchte auch erwähnen, dass die Kontaktaufnahme zum Händler reibungslos verlief und ich auf einen sehr netten und kundenfreundlichen Service traf. Good value for money

Durability not good which is unfortunate as I orherwise really like it. It was used for one dock diving lesson so only a few jumps and grabs and it cracked in 2 spots just from the grab/bite. It was NOT used as a chew toy but my dog has a solid bite. Perhaps would be better suited for soft mouthed dogs.

Material is thick, has good weight for long retrieves and the density was great for a soft mouth. Hard chewers would probably demolish the foam. Stitching is weak, mine blew out third session and it's now leaking sand and headed to the trash.

Lab had it ripped in one session. Hand a bunch of sand in it as well. Would not buy again
