good
Used this on my 9950x3d and it fit perfectly, my cpu runs good and the temps are nice, so it does what its supposed to.

This is a no brainer
Get rid of the stock retainer and replace with this one. It retains the cpu firmly and looks good. Biggest plus is if your sloppy applying heatsink compound, it just spreads on the top of this thing and is easy to clean up. Remember to use Arctic MX-7. imo the best per price. Now a month of use and can say this has been a great purchase. I first installed a Thermalright Royal Preytor Ultra 130 and that performed better than expected for an air cooler. Temp at idle was in mid 30`s and maxed out under load/no overclock/ in the mid 70`s. Better results when used with Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 pro 240mm. Low 30`s at idle and lucky to see upper 60`s at load/no overclock/. This retainer not only keeps the thermal paste mess under control, but it also wicks the heat off the edges of the cpu which acts as a heatsink too. Fit was excellent and if I do another AM5 build, this is going to be parts of the build.

Excellent quality product!
The Thermalright AM5 frame is of excellent quality and works flawlessly. The entire buying process was smooth, and it arrived right on schedule as promised. Excellent seller, 100% recommended!

Worth every dollar
For the price, just do it. I swapped cases going to this so I cant say anything about temps but just for the application of thermal paste. This is 1000 times worth it. The fitment was perfect and took about 30 seconds to swap it out. I do like that it stiffened the board a bit since my micro atx board had a slight bend from the prior cooler.

Completely Unnecessary but looks great
Let's set the record straight- AM5 Processors do NOT need a secure contact frame. Why? Because AMD put a SUPER thick heatspreader on all AM5 processors to allow people to reuse their old CPU coolers, which means it's VERY unlikely to bend. Intel's thin chips however, started bending. The trend caught on, and now everyone wants a frame. It looks cool, so I bought one. At this price point, it's cheap enough to say why not? Installing it could not be easier. Unscrew the old CPU holder (make sure to hold the backplate in while you do this, then screw in the new one. As soon as the screws start to require a herculean effort to tighten further, you're good to go. This thing serves one purpose- to make your system look cool. The other purpose it serves is to make thermal paste application slightly easier. I didn't notice any benefits in terms of cooling or temperature control, but I now feel vastly superior to anyone who has to unlatch their CPU in an ancient mousetrap fashion. I've spent more on dumber things, so 5 stars for this.

DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN!!!
This is a nice piece of machinery that does make a noticeable improvement in CPU contact. It's just as easy to install as the factory system except the bolts TR uses are garbage. I over tightened one and snapped the head right off using their tool supplied with the bracket. Do not use the short end of the wrench for anything, it has too much leverage and will snap that bolt like it was your thumb and middle finger. I was lucky, it broke clean right under the bolt head so I was able to extract it by removing the bracket. I WISH TO GOD THAT THIS WOULD COME WITH AN EXTRA BOLT! I had to find my own in the garage and it doesn't fit flush, but still works. I ended up just buying a second one just for a bolt to use going forward. There are so many of these brackets on the market that I recommend finding another one, no reason to spend your money here if you end up paying twice.

Cool aesthetic and functionality
This frame prevents thermal paste from leaking into the edge crevices of the uniquely designed AMD Socket AM5 CPU’s and provides better distributed pressure contact with the copper plate of the CPU cooler compared to the OEM frame on the motherboard which promotes better cooling. The CPU isn’t secured onto the motherboard like the traditional method with the OEM socket so it could quite literally fall off during installation if it’s not kept horizontally leveled. For when you need to remove the CPU cooler: run the system for a few minutes to make the thermal paste malleable, keep the system horizontally leveled, then after unscrewing the cooler you’ll “wiggle” it slowly away vertically. The CPU may or may not come off attached with the cooler so keep watch.

It's not a necessary accessory but a good one
It does what I wanted it to do. It fit perfectly. As far as temps go, this will not improve them. That has nothing to do with Thermalright's design, though. Contact frames do not improve AM5 temps because they don't bend like the Intel CPUs do. I had one for an Intel CPU in the past and it decreased temps by like 5º. The reason I purchased this was for thermal paste spreading. It prevents spillover from getting into hard to clean areas. I also like the look of it even though it's invisible after mounting my cooler. It was very east to install and doesn't even require instructions if you understand PC building. While this isn't a must have accessory, I think it provides benefits if you plan on reposting your CPU in the future.

Sturdy and Perfectly Fit for 9950x CPU
I was hesitant to buy this one because some online reviews said it doesn’t quite fit the AM5 9000 series CPUs. But make no mistake — it fits my 9950X perfectly.

Perfect
Machined perfectly. Fits like a glove and is probably the simplest and most important upgrade you can make when building a PC
