Great little vacuum that is pulling tons of old cat hair and dirt from our carpets
UPDATE: So we've had this vacuum a year now. My review below stands... I'd like to give it 4.5 stars because of pricepoint, but as that is not an option, I give it five, only because I paid under $100 for it. It works great, when it works. But it has some issues. My review below is still mostly accurate, but everyone else is right about the overheating. In addition, the bristles are powerful and can damage things. We put this on our cork floor and then used the handheld - well, the bristles kept spinning (never a problem in the old vacuum), and it chewed up the cork. The other day I had it on a throw rug. It vacuumed the rug fine on height 3, but then I used the apolstry brush. After about five minutes I heard a smell. The bristles had destroyed my rug and the red plastic cover for the bristles had totally melted, then the belt burst. This vacuum has a huge heat issue. For the price, nice vacuum, but we have to be mindful to shut off the brush when we are using the attachments and you can't use it more than 10 minutes straight or it overheats. For this, I'm reducing to 4 stars, even at under $100, the more I think about it, it still needs work.ORIGINAL COMMENT: I am giving this 5 stars at it's price point. We paid just under $100. Amazon should be embarrassed that it showed in stock with 2 day shipping yet took 2 weeks to arrive, but I don't star based on shipping. This little guy is POWERFUL. We had an old Eureka - a nice, $300 vaccuum that just died one day while we were vacumming. When this guy came, oh my god, it gets out SOOOO much more than the old one did. We have cats, and we rarely had to change the bag in our old vaccum, like once every 6 months or more. This thing, the cup which probably holds about a quarter what the old bag held, needs to be emptied each time we vacuum! I sware, this thing is getting out 10 or 20 times the hair and dirt our old one got. Now, here is the thing... it sounds... funny. It's sort of loud, but also strange sounding. Like to us, it always sounds like something is wrong, when it isn't. So that's taking some getting used to. I would not say it is louder than our old vacuum, probably just as loud but strange sounding, like it has a clog or thrown belt when it doesn't. But who cares... because this baby gets that cat hair out!!!The retractable cord is working great. The attachments are easy to use. The only thing I wish it had was automatic height adjustment, but you need to spend more to get that. We did throw the belt one time and it is very easy to put back on - the bottom of the machine has the numbers of the screws embossed in it. So you clearly see that you need to remove these 5 screws to pull off the bottom and get to the belt. Easy peasy.

not bad, just OK
4/17/15 Update:The cleaning capability diminished quickly over about one month; turned out to be the easily removed / cleaned filter (canister was only about 50% full). Suction is now good. The label on the bagless canister indicate to clean the rinseable filter every two months.I'm finding that when canister is about 50% full, this filter is also noticeably dirty (and this significantly impacts suction / cleaning). I'm new to the bagless vacuums and prefer the bag types (easy to dump, yes, but also have to clean it out). Bottom line: the rinseable filter seems to be the choke-point for performance. You may need to clean it well ahead of the container being near full. If you have a larger home, you need a vacuum with more capacity. Probably still good vacuum for light duty / small home / at $100.It's a price vs. suction thing. I decided by price and ratings. Suction turns out be be only OK, not bad, just OK. This is a $100 vacuum and it's pretty good - and I guess I would buy it again for my intended use (a condo occupied occasionally) - but it is not a powerful vacuum cleaner. Hoover makes better vacuums, but at a higher price. I guess I wish I had spent an additional $100 for a truly powerful vacuum cleaner. My overall disappointment is that suction is just OK - you would never describe it as powerful. My main home vacuum cleaner is an earlier Hoover WindTunnelVacuum, similar to the hoover anniversary edition, self propelled, considerably more powerful and twice the price as this reviewed item. When using my other vacuum cleaner's tools, there's powerful suction - so much so that when you connect a tool, the hose visibly contracts. The spinning upholstery brush - powered by suction air being pulled through it - really spins and doesn't slow down when you apply it to cushions, etc. With this reviewed item, suction with the hand tools is really marginal. The spinning brush spins, but slows considerably / stops when you touch it to upholstery. The round dust brush has limited air flow; just enough to get by, actually poor. I should note that I've had this unit about two months and emptied the canister once. I don't think I have any blockage in the hoses. The net is that this is a $100 vacuum and it may be good compared to other $100 units. It does vacuum carpet and it gets the dust out (see it in canister). Tools, however, perform marginally because of just-adequate air flow. But it also costs only $100. My recommendation is - if you have extra $$ - step up to the self propelled wind tunnel anniversary models; they are powerful. It not, this may be the right vacuum at the right price point. One final point; I'm new the auto cord roll up and it's a nice feature. I don't know how long it will work.

Pros - Good suction and power
Pros - Good suction and power. Turbo tool works good because of the power it has. Ive had others that dont have the power to use the turbo tool well. Thats about it for the pros. Cons - Headlight is worthless, not bright at all. Cord rewind is nice but Im sure it will be one of the first things to break. Height adjustments aren't good. Too much distance between each height. One is too low and then the other is too high.. The handle has only one position. You cant lay it flat to vacuum under stuff. The bagless level indicator does not seem to work, stays red all the time. So I guess over all its just OK, it will do the job. .After using it for a few months now I like it even less. The cord rewind turns your cord into a curly Q and it gets tangled up in stuff. I have the height set at 3 (middle) and it wont even run over a thin indoor / outdoor throw rug. It pushes and crumples the rug. It wont even vacuum a throw rug. It sucks it up and pulls it. Suction is good but maybe too much is bad. It says it never loses suction, thats a lie. You have to clean the filter every time you empty the cup or it does lose suction. This thing is very annoying to use and I wish I would have bought something else.

This is a fantastic machine - it is a bit loud
This is a fantastic machine - it is a bit loud, but so what!! Im more interested in having a clean house than a quiet running vacuum cleaner! Great features of push button for carpet brushes on or off Easy transition from carpet to tile to hardwood. I love that the cord retracts! and there is even a small hook to clip the cord behind the handle when using so that you don't run over it! great suction with the brushes on - slightly less when using the attachments but still does a great job. Also it is a heavy machine to lift upstairs but again - a clean house is what I want not some lightweight cheap carry around - I have already recommended this machine to others at my work - very versatile great construction easy to swap out attachments and empty the canister when job is done - love this great product for the price

works as Advertised.
Fast shipping....received in plain distressed retail box...yet works as advertised and no noticeable damage in the item, only the box has holes and rips....and its a beautiful gadget....when running, warms up quickly and runs quite warm and noisy than my older Bissell....could be due to hard working engine and air friction....quite heavy for regular seniors....no problem to any athletic seniors....sucks hard than my old Bissell....I'll rate the durability and update my user feedback yearly.

Nice design features and sold build.
Just received delivery of this vacuum about 2 hours ago. It only took me about 10 min to assemble and read the instructions. I then vacuumed all the floors. It worked great. I like having all the attachments on the vacuum for easy access. Another nice feature is the retractable cord. Nice.I’ve only used it once but it was a nice experience compared to having to use a dyson.Well done Hoover.

I absolutely love this vacuum cleaner
I absolutely love this vacuum cleaner. I didn't have to spend hundreds of $$ to get quality. I have a dog that sheds a LOT, and after vacuuming and cleaning (which was very easy to do); my floors couldn't have looked better.

Very good machine
Love my new vaccum. Well made, handles easily, not overly noisy and easy to clean. It does get a little warm but I'm in a small apartment so I don't see it becoming a problem.
