Turtle Brush with Suction Cup, Aquatic Turtle Tank Accessories

This paragragh and video are an update to my original review. This brush has been in my turtle tank almost a month. It took some fiddling to find the best placement closer to the bottom. Oh my goodness, she figured it out! She spends a lot of time scraping against it just like you see in the video. I have it placed horizontally but had mounted it too far off the bottom originally. She needs to use the bottom as leverage to push up against the brush to clean her shell and body. The bristles are soft & she really presses into it for a good cleaning. The suction cups hold it firmly in place. If it seems loose it's usually because the suction cups get a slimy buildup and have to be wiped off. At first I wasn't crazy about the way it looks but mounting horizontally on the back wall under the basking dock makes it blend in a little since the light doesn't shine under the dock. I am really impressed with the brush. END OF UPDATE.I have a 40 gallon tank for my red eared slider turtle, Max. She needed a way to help slough off the shedding skin and scutes and there's no way I'm capable of helping with that. She was miserable, always scratching at her head and neck.It was easy to install in the tank. Just took it out of the box, rinsed it off and stuck it to the side of the tank. At first she was extremely frightened of the brush. She wouldn't even swim near it and literally plastered herself to the wall on the other side of the tank for a while. She steered clear of it for a few hours. By early evening I found her scooting back and forth under the brush, I guess scratching her back. Since I added the brush 2 days ago, she has been using it proactively by rubbing against it and passively when she passes it and uses it as a push off so it brushes against her feet and legs. I found large pieces of shed skin on the brush after she used it, which I removed because the pieces of skin can clog the filter.I have noticed a drastic reduction in large strands of hanging shedding skin around her neck and back legs, and the loose shedding scute finally fell off (it was hanging onto her by a thread). She looks healthier and isn't scratching at her head and neck. After only 2 days!The 3 suction cups have held it in place without moving or detaching. My only disappointment with the brush is that it looks big for the tank and the color isn't at all camouflaged. Sort of looks like a gray & white toilet bowl brush stuck to the inside of the tank. I'm learning to live with it as long as it benefits Max.I guess the price is ok, maybe a little high. But like I said as long as it's working as expected, I'm good with it. Besides, there doesn't seem to be a variety of these types of brushes to choose from, at least not that I found at this price point.

As soon as I rinsed it off under some water to make sure that there's nothing loose on it and to get any harsh chemicals off it, when I put it in the tank, my turtle used it right away. If you want to make sure that the suction cups hold well, you have to press down on the suction cups with your fingers when it's under water to push the air out from under it. If you don't it will just slide off and not stick correctly. My turtle climbs on it, pushes it and testes it and it doesn't move or slide away. He uses it all the time now and so far it's works great.

Did not stay sticking to tank for my turtle. Otherwise I think he would enjoy it since it's a decent size.

Will not stay suctioned to glass. Everytime the turtle bumps into it, it comes loose and floats to the top of the water.

I bought one and put it in one tank to see what she thought of it. After about an hour, she got it and spent the next two days scratching her own back. It was fun to watch. After that, she seemed less interested. I took it out, washed it, and gave it to another turtle who also loved it for a few days and then got bored. I think I’m going to make this a rotating toy, that way it stays interesting and tanks don’t get cluttered.
