Mente 32L Daypack - CADA Dia, Abyss

I just received this backpack and I will be using it on campus. The construction is fantastic and I am sure it will last me many years. It's light but also assembled very well. Note that the bottom of the Cotopaxi does not have real vinyl base like other packs so I would need to be careful as not set it standing on a very wet surface. The pack is water resistant but not truly waterproof. I was concerned about having less pockets than my old North Face backpack, but I like having the fewer pockets as they will make me more efficient with my organization. A couple of things to note: 1. The color is bit darker than what is shown in the image, which was fine by me. I love the dark teal look and the pack is stylish! 2. The Amazon site states that this has 13" padded laptop sleeve. This is incorrect. I was easily able to insert my 15 inch laptop along with separate sleeve, and still had plenty of room! The tag on the pack even says it will hold a 16 inch laptop and I agree with that. I do not feel that padded laptop sleeve in the description is really that padded. There is some, but I would recommend buying a separate laptop sleeve just give your machine extra protection. 3. The is a tall backpack...not compact and short. Again, I am happy that it is. 4. The zippers and straps all seem to built very well. It is comfortable and padding is not super thick which helps with overall weight. Finally, I do feel that this pack gives you versatility on all types of adventures unless you are into serious mountaineering where a thicker pack with more pockets and weather proofing would serve better. I am very happy I was able to get this...highly recommended.

I’m very happy with this backpack. It looks great, feels comfortable to carry, and has plenty of space. The quality is excellent, and it’s exactly what I was looking for. Highly recommend!

First of all, this backpack is pretty expensive. That said, it has all the features that I wanted. It's roomy, made of a quality (yet light) material, has plenty of storage areas, and can hold two water bottles without problem. I tried a few backpacks before settling on this one. There are three separate compartments, one that is dedicated for a laptop. There is the middle compartment which has a ton of room. I recently traveled for the weekend and was able to fit all of my clothes and shoes in this compartment. The last compartment is decent size with a zippered organizer. This worked great for tech stuff and keys. There's also a smaller outside stash pocket. On the sides are two water bottle holders. I take two bottles with me each day, so this is great! The material is flexible, but strong. The material is top notch and has a high tech feel to it. I know it'll withstand water (I spilled a bit on it from my bottle) and dirt well. There's a strong handle at the top, a waist belt, and chest clip. I use my backpack daily, so I'm excited for this one.

Pros: very lightweight, large capacity, nice open layout. Cons: hardware feels a little cheap, no laptop sleeve (just a large separate laptop compartment), and no luggage pass through. I do a lot of traveling within SE Asia and most have ~15 lb weight restriction for carry ons, so was looking for a spacious bag that was lightweight. I don’t need a lot of internal pockets and compartments as I have tech pouches to carry my gear. The cons are probably due to Cotopaxi trying to make the pack as lightweight as possible, so I can understand why they didn’t go with premium hardware. With the Mente, I could easily pack my laptop, tech pouches and dopp kit, packing cube with 3-4 days of clothes, and another pair of shoes, and still come under the 15 lb weight limit. This pack won’t be for everyone, but for my use case, it’s just about perfect.

I don't want to oversell this bag but it changed my life. I spent a few months researching and this was the perfect fit for me. Roomy pockets, durable zippers, balanced weight on your back, and location/accessibility of the pockets are fantastic. The outside is waterproof I think, my water bottle always leaks once we reach altitude on a plane, and it hasn't leaked into the bag at all. The laptop sleeve is a bit big, but it doesn't remove any functionality or storage, it shrinks up when not in use. Amazing bag, especially if you travel a lot.
