Glad to have a traditional toaster again
for many years, I'd been using a toaster oven. But like many, I really wasn't using it often as the oven settings were by dial and not very accurate. And toasting was always a chore. NOT ANY MORE! I decided it was time to get some counter space back and buy a traditional 2-slice toaster. It's so much better for bagels and even the occassional waffles. For the bigger NY-style bagels, be sure to cut down the middle so that it fits better into the slots! It toasts quickly and evenly but doesn't feel hot on the outside of the toaster. I went with basic White and that color is simple and doesn't stand out. Once you get your settings figured out (not hard), toasting is basic to being easy. the Cuisinart is a quality item that feels solid and doesn't eat up too much space on the counter. I've used this toaster more in the last month or so than the toaster over in years!

Good quality
Very sleek! Love the different settings. Toast came out perfect. Would buy again. Especially like the lift up for smaller pieces of bread or bagels

Just an OK toaster
Just an OK toaster. Nothing special or out of the ordinary. I thought it was a dull black but it is a very shiny black just fyi. It toasts like other toasters I’ve had before. 🤷♀️

Disappointed
Compared to other Cuisinart toasters I have had in the past, I was extremely disappointed with the Cuisinart 2 slice toaster CPT-122BK model. Not sure if I just got a defective one or if they are all like that, but it didn't work correctly. The toaster itself is very lightweight & low quality compared to the others I have had. It looks good & the cord is a good length & can be contained underneath. I definitely recommend a removable crumb tray & it has one. It was packaged well & I had it delivered in an Amazon box. I like the cancel, bagel & defrost options & the wide slots - unfortunately, that's the only good things about it as it didn't toast as it should. I ran a couple cycles to burn off the manufacturing residue & tested the toaster with several different types/sizes/thickness of bread at the various heat settings - all had issues. Weirdly, the pieces of toast that I scraped off the burnt parts tasted like there was cinnamon on it & I was using Texas toast & peanut butter, so there shouldn't have been a cinnamon taste. The bread was still cold even though it was burnt. It appeared brand new in the box with all of the wrappings & no crumbs in it when I unboxed it, so I don't know what happened. The plastic sides of the toaster got very hot, even on the lowest setting. The lever isn't smoothe when you press it down & you can see the red heat elements through the lever slit in the plastic. Thicker bread doesn't pop up very much when it's done. The bread carriage doesn't hold the bread in the center of the slots & it didn't settle in the same spot every time. Toasting at level 1 or 2 doesn't get the bread toasted or warm. Level 2.5 - 3.5 burns one side of the bread while the other side isn't toasted at all. Turning it over to toast the other side ends up burning both sides. Anything higher makes charcoal. There's no control at all over the toast brownness because it goes from nothing to burnt in less than 1 level. Weirdly, even when the toast was burnt, the bread wasn't warm at all. The heat elements get really red & all seem to light up, but I don't know what makes the toaster do what it does at the lower heat levels. If you like burnt cold toast, you would probably like this defective toaster. I need to have a toaster that works correctly & consistently since we use it every day for multiple people & picky eaters. Thankfully, I am able to return the toaster without leaving my house - the UPS building is about 10 miles away from my house & I don't have a vehicle right now & we don't really have any public transportation options here. UPS will pick it up at some point tomorrow & being a label to put on it. Hopefully that goes smoothly! I have already ordered a different brand toaster that has 4.7 stars - hopefully I get one that actually works well, every time.

Compact design and perfect toast
I originally purchased this toaster because how compact it is. Any appliance needs to justify the footprint that it takes up in a small kitchen, and this was a perfect fit. But I was also looking for a toaster that had gotten good reviews and recommendations. I'd had this on my list for a while, but the push was catching it on sale. I'm so glad that I finally purchased it. I thought my old toaster was pretty good, but the Cuisinart compact toaster showed me I was wrong. Finally I have evenly toasted bread, instead of the splotchy job the old one it replaced did. I like that the plunger handle can also provide that extra bit of lift out of the toasting chamber, so that small slices are easier to grab. Like all new electric appliances, there's a bit of manufacturing residue that burns off the first time you use it. I recommend running it for a minute (under a watchful eye) just to burn that off. Then you're ready to do with beautifully toasted bread. I suggest starting with a setting of between 2 to 3 to get the hang of the darkness setting. The electric cord is quite stiff, but works fine. Time will tell how everything holds up. This is still just a week old, so I'll report back if something changes. Otherwise, I like what I've seen thus far.

DISAPPOINTED
I bought this 2 years ago to replace a 4 slice toaster to reduce the counter space it took up. The 4 slice was about 12yrs old & worked great. This Cuisinart got pretty good reviews for a medium priced toaster & Cuisinart is a well known brand for kitchen appliances. I was unhappy with it from the start. It felt cheaply made - very light weight, a knob that is so loose, that it’s hard to keep it at the chosen setting. It does not toast evenly - the corners get more done than the rest of the slice. I found that if I use the lightest setting, then flip & rotate each slice then toast again on lowest setting, I can get close to what I want. I’m not sure what the Bagel setting is supposed to do, but it doesn’t seem like it is any different from the regular setting. Most toasters indicate how to place the bagel & then doesn’t toast or lightly toasts the split side of the bagel. There is no indication (maybe in the directions, which I tossed.) I checked to see if one side of coils was different than the other. I also have tried putting the cut side in and also the cut side out - no difference.

Cuisinart Compact Toasters, 5 Stars
I recently replaced my old toaster after it failed to pop up and burned the toast for the second time this year. After some research, I chose the Cuisinart Compact Toaster in Black and I'm very happy with it. I love the sleek color and extra-wide 1.5-inch slots that easily handle bagels and thicker bread. The 7 shade settings, defrost/reheat/cancel options, and high-lift carriage deliver consistent results every time, while the slide-out crumb tray makes cleanup effortless. I like the compact design and it fits nicely on the counter, and the 3-year warranty is a nice bonus. Great toaster!

Welcome back to simplicity!
I've had several sophisticated toasters with LED lights and extra features, and at some point they have all failed at some point, and when I saw this one recommended on Wirecutter it looked like a good value, and having received this one, I feel: "Welcome back to simplicity!" No fancy features, but it does the job and so far has done it well. I mean, that's all I really want from a toaster! And the price is right. The only downside was I had to learn not to push the lever down too hard. Other toasters I had to kinda push hard to make it stay down, but with this one if I push to hard it pops right back up again. If I push down gently, it stays down. I was a bit hesitant to buy something that literally says "plastic" in the description as I'm not a big fan of using plastic in general, but there is no contact between the plastic and the food and it does seem easier to clean than steel toasters. So far, very happy with this toaster, and it doesn't take up a lot of space on the counter. ALERT: I put it too close to a gas burner on the stove and it caught on fire! The plastic side flamed and melted - ugh! So I bought another. I still give it 5 stars - I just need to keep it further away from the stove!

Cheap Plastic Toaster
Probably the worst toaster I have ever owned…..Very cheap plastic & the push down lever only works occasionally.

Excelente tostador.
