Best WiFi for large house ever
We live in what we consider a big house: 3000 square feet, two floors and a basement. We also have an apartment over our detached garage (only about 30 feet from the house). Since we switched to Orbi, I have observed very few network problems. When things stop working well (usually packet loss), I am able to use Orbi's troubleshooting tools to figure out what is going on. So far, the root cause has not been something in the Orbi, but I'm glad the tools are there, so I can figure out what is going on.Background: I have been using Google's WiFi mesh network for several years. We got intermittent outages. I tried hard to troubleshoot these, but in the end Google wouldn't let me do what I needed to do. They told me it was a security issue. I live in a rural area where we have problems with bears but no crime. The reason for this background is I have observed a fundamental difference between Google and Netgear. Google's attitude is "Our stuff is great. If it doesn't work, that's your fault!". Netgear's attitude is "WiFi is hard. Let's work together to make it easier."Changing WiFi is a traumatic experience. People tend to put a lot of different types of printers, entertainment devices, mobile phones, and smart home controllers on their home network. We are no exception. I really didn't want to change, because I knew how painful it would be.It was painful. After I switched, I noticed that our HP Envy 5530 printer didn't work. (Of course this was on a day when I was busy and *really* needed to print something.). I googled network problems with my printer, but none of the solutions fit. Finally, I went to the Netgear WebUI and figured it out.The printer is on our guest network (because we want our guests to be able to use it). By default, unsecure printer and file sharing protocols are disabled on a guest network. I disagree with this default. My house is not a retail business with people I don't know using the guest network. I trust my guests and want them to have full access to everything except my work computer. Netgear needs a "Home Guest" (less secure) and "Business Guest" (more secure) option.Providing required configuration options while keeping set up simple is hard. Every vendor is going to get this wrong a few times. The point is Netgear went out of its way to give customers excellent troubleshooting tools. They were easy to use and solved my problem.

Awesome product so far.
This review is for the 3-pack RBK23 (the smaller version) and is entirely focused on NON-TECHNICAL details. I'm sure other review sites can tell you how great the Orbi products are. Instead I'll just mention my personal experience so far and my reservations about potential issues with their customer service.I was a bit wary (still am) about buying an Orbi mesh network with all the complaints regarding customer service not being easily accessible. My biggest fear was:1) 90 days complimentary phone service support, but need to pay afterwards 90 days of purchase.2) If product breaks or there is an issue, RMA is required for any work done.3) RMA can only be retrieved through speaking with customer service over phone.4) Refer to #3 conflicting with #1.After much deliberation, I ultimately went with the smaller set Orbi after reading numerous reviews stating how awesome the product is for speed and coverage. Since I've purchased and set it up (was a breeze) I have not been disappointed.Pros:Easy to set up.Speed around the house (~1900 sq/ft single story) is at the maximum provided by my ISP (Verizon Fios). No issues with dropping signal, disconnect/reconnect, etc.Can use Ethernet ports from satellite routers (I was able to relocate my Obihai VOIP box away from the main router which was an eyesore in the livingroom).Cons:Alleged terrible customer service infinite loop where you ultimately need to pay money for CS (see points I made above).Routers/Satellites are somewhat big. I got the smaller version and they're still quite large in my opinion. Not sure how the bigger brother RBK50s will do as room decorations...Did I mention the scary customer service issue? So far, I'm giving it a 5 star rating due to ease of use, coverage, speed, and having experienced no issues. That may change though if their customer service is as bad as others make them out to be. Namely the "forced firmware updates that break stuff" that I've read about... Will provide an update if that ever happens!Hope this helps.
