SONGMICS Bamboo Laundry Hamper with Lid, 39.6-Gallons, with Handles

This hamper is great! It's large, holds a lot of clothes, and looks nice. It's stable, my cat likes to take naps on top of it and the lid stays firm in place not collapsing in. It was easy to put together. It's easy to move around if needed. I would buy again!

Within minutes, the hamper was ready for use, showcasing both practicality and aesthetic appeal. It really is a breeze to snap together. On the downside, there is a slight issue with lid stability. Occasionally, the lid doesn't stay securely in place, which can be a minor inconvenience when quickly tossing clothes into the hamper. However, this doesn't significantly impact the overall functionality of the hamper. In summary, this clothes hamper strikes a commendable balance between style, practicality, and price. Its lightweight design, attractive light wood, sturdy construction, and generous capacity make it a reliable choice for organizing laundry. While the occasional lid instability is a minor drawback, it doesn't detract from the hamper's overall effectiveness. This is a review of the Songmics (bamboo) Laundry Hamper with lid: When I first opened the package yesterday, I said "What the heck is this", included were 2 flat rectangular pieces of bamboo "siding", a rectangular metal "hoop", and what appeared to be a collapsed bulldozer or tank tread made of individual sticks of bamboo backed by mesh to make it into one piece. Unfortunately the instructions had slid down to the floor so I unfolded the "tank tread" into a basket while shaking my head. I was about to repackage the hamper and return it to Amazon when I found the instructions. Having nothing to lose, I decided to assemble the hamper. Well, it's a lot like a unibody car where every part reinforces the other. Anyway the "hoop" stiffens the top while one of the rectangular "siding" pieces stiffens the bottom, and the other acts as a cap and lid. The whole thing when assembled is quite nice. I mean you won't be able to sit on it, but in addition to the dirty clothes inside, it will hold clean clothes on top to change, or your cat.

This is a nice hamper. The bamboo is sturdy and a good size to hold the dirty laundry. I suspect the bamboo does not have the flex to endure being moved or carried often but I will be keeping it in place so that is not a problem for me. I like how it looks. I would buy it again.

These look nice but are not very sturdy. I ordered two and didn’t realize they are collapsible, and I had issues with them coming apart with regular use. I had thoughts of painting them too coordinated with mine and my daughter’s rooms but I don’t think they would have held up to that.

Updated 10/8/2024 - we've used the hamper for a couple of months now. today I just found a substantial design flaw, but easily fixed. the bottom of the hamper is made from a rigid paper board. when you place wet or damp clothes in it the moisture soaks right through. consequently over time that bottom board begins to warp out of shape. if I'd not found this issue it would've ruined the hamper. the FIX, get a kitchen sized trash bag and place the bottom 'board' into it. then put back in place. since the cloth bag sits on top you'll never even see the trash bag, problem solved. FYI as for the rest of the hamper, no problems at all as the bottom section was the only area I had issue with. all said for the money I'd still buy this again if needed. __________________________________________ Original review,.the hamper came in several pieces but was very easy to put together. it is sturdier than i had expected. it looks very nice. it's also easy to use. the liner comes off and on with minimal effort. it holds nearly two full loads of laundry if full. related as to size it is about as tall as a 23 gallon trash can but nearly twice as wide. i had not a single issue or problem with this hamper and if needed i wouldn't hesitate to order another. for the price imho it can't be beat.

Looks good and very sturdy. Good size. Inner fabric bag is a little thing, I can see it tearing soon.
