Sony MDR-XB55 Extra-Bass in-Ear Headphones Without Mic(Black)

You can read my first review on bottom..After a negative experience i burned earphones with bass sweep and pink noise for straight 10 hours and after 2 days results were amazing...I thought burning was just a placebo effect. But i didn't listened for these 2 days of burning.. So it can't be placebo...Bass improved a lot (Not very booming but the beats and thumps are heavy drop)Sound stage is wide..And this one is loud so i may go deaf in a year :DGood luck everyone.. Don't lose hope.. Burn the earphone (not literally) for 12 hours and use it.. Won't be disappointed..//First of all delivery and packing was great.Product quality looks good and premium.Buds are ok giving good isolation.Problem is.. I had so much hope because of the reviews of BASS.Seriously?Even my oppo M31 gives good smooth Bass than this.Friend suggested me to run some burn tracks like pink noise for 5 to 6 hours and it will be better.I hope if that happens I'll edit review. So far after a day not impressed on bass. There are beats but Bass is not dum dum beats. Sony can produce a smooth bass but this doesn't have it.Pros -Cons*Loudest earphones and got good noise cancellation.(passive)*Have a hard thump bass (on beats this one rocks) but on low frequency bass really bad, there is hardly any low bass.*Nice mids good treble (many reviews said bass overpower mids and highs :/ ) don't believe it. Trust me i have been using so much headphones and earphones.so far i have 8 earpieces with me.* Sound stage is good not the best.*Works good with Dolby atmos.*Neodymium shows it's dominance with crysp sound but on high volume treble Pierce your eardrums.*Comfort is ok, Not saying bad because it have a 12mm drive so size will be big. (Expected)*build quality looks good (not on 3.5mm jack side, that looks like weak)So for me it's a bit disappointment, i thought this one got a good bass :(Now it's your turn to try. For a decent quality sound signature it's good. Extra bass is only on label so far.. I'll edit review if anything changes after proper burning (which some say is a myth)

I bought this particular pair of earphones from Amazon.in and I am writing this review after 6 months of use.These earphones come with a carrying pouch, please carry it in the pouch of the polishing on the earphones as well as the Sony branding begins to come off.The build quality of these earphones is pretty solid. It comes with 1.2 meters of serrated cable which makes sure that it doesn't tangle as much as non-serrated cables. In my use I found this to be pretty true. While these earphones aren't certified to be waterproof but I dropped them in coffee for 5 minutes by mistake, then washed them and used them and they continued to work with no problems in sound quality. These earphones can take some abuse and keep going although the signs of abuse will show on your earphones.Talking about sound quality these earphones can produce sounds varying from 4Hz to 22000 Hz which make them good for both bass and treble heavy songs. When you are playing songs with both bass and treble then the bass seems to drown out the higher notes and other musical elements very slightly. The bass is good but not so overwhelming that it will drown out the other elements in the music. The music can still be heard as you feel the base at the base of your throat. I would give these earphones a 4 star due to the slight drown out of musical elements that happens when you are listening to music that has both low and high frequencies

I wanted to try something new, or say bassy earphones. So, finally pinned down to these.Unboxing experience was good with nice presentation, earphones visible through the box. Four eartips in the box, along with a nice velvet type carrying pouch with Sony logo.Material is definately all plastic but very strongly built with covering the connecting wire for protection from tugs and pulls. Exceptional build quality, small mole is given on the left channel which is helpful everytime. Wire feels great, not flat but oval in shape, with parallel serration running entire length of wire, easy to untangle. Really strong wire, feels amazing to touch, like fabric.Sound quality.First time listening to it felt like waste of money, muffled, treble-less, honky bass, gave it second chance and listened for 2-3 days and sound improved, treble came to life, bass became deep with sub-bass. One thing was confirmed, these earphones are very loud, no earphones can play this loud that i have heard till date. If you listen at 50% volume with others, with this it has to be turned down to 30. Only over-ear headphones can make this much volume.12mm driver does it job, zero distortion was observed ever. Tonality is intact till 80% of volume.Treble: is overly recessed, lack of details and sharpness is clearly evident, so no chance of ear piercing shrill at highest volumes. Upper treble is almost missing and one part of music feels empty. No spark, no sibliance. The good thing, it would not causes ear fatigue for long listening hours and some how treble sounds sweet.Mids: are thick, muddy and bassy and surprisingly possesses details. Due to bass boost all the male voices are too thick and muffled. As if speaking whilst covering their mouth. Tonality doesnt change, even at highest volumes or becomes thin and sharp. Details are there but subdued by bass boost.Bass: is unmatched to any earphones of any brand. Separation of bass instruments is average. Upper bass is boosted, not the sub bass. Movies experience would be very interesting and fun. Even songs without bass has got some bass with this one. Hip hop, edm, pop etc are enjoyable. All other genres is unsuitable, it is meant strictly for music with beats. Eardrums will vibrate. Bassy sound is very well maintained at higher sounds. Sub-bass is present but over shadowed by upper bass boost.Concluding it, i would say it has only bass to talk about, great build quality, excellent noise isolation and little uncomfortable. Strictly good for high bpm music, not so good for movies/youtube. Sounds as if low bitrate music is playing, so the highest bitrate is recommended. It sounds like high bass faint treble, exactly the opposite of what audiophiles prefer.
