WD My Passport 4TB Portable External Hard Drive (Black)

First of all kudos to Amazon for such accurate and fast delivery...Now coming to the product itself...I bought it for just ₹ 8000 and its just a steal (during sale).Not going into technical details, but this drive surpasses my seagate backup plus 2tb drive... it took me only 6 and a few hours to transfer my 1.5tb of movies and so you can calculate the averate write speed of this drive. (prefer real life usage than some tests)Secondly on comparing it to my seagate drive, i found the read speed to be much better on this one... . I mean i watch movies directly from hdd and on forwarding scenes, the movie would freeze for a short time on seagte but doesn't happen on wd... This subtle difference just made wd the best hdd for me..I would totally recommend wd over seagte anytime....

I Have literally Dozers of Portable HDD which I travel with all the time.This one is a 4TB HDD which makes it Bulky and Heavy.design-wise it has a lot of sharp corners, and I have reservations about putting it into flimsy compartments of my bag fearing it would tear it off..but I have to say its one of the best HDD I have, great capacity with good speeds, I can get 70-80 MBps Write speeds, and also.Read speeds hover around 80-90 MBps.it's more than enough for me as I use it as an archive drive.What impresses me most is that I use it in a NAS Setup which makes it work continuously when I use it from home. and am impressed with the durability of the drive.

Better and cost effective hard disk for your personal data storage.Initially when I recieved hard disk it was not detectable and after troubleshooting also no luck.I reached out to Amazon who was helpful and given replacement device.Many reviews helped a lot and I have done wd diagnostic test for bad sector and quick performance test.In device 3.64 TB storage is available and size is compact.Lucky that I got it in deal and price factor is very good.Please watch out your personal device and do all the diagnostic to make sure it's all correct.That tool is available online and it comes in installable application in hard disk also.Hope it would help someone in need. I'm sharing old package which received earlier. But later package is very good and no issues after test.

Been about a month since I bought it.So far so good.Mainly I use it for backup so doesn't get plugged in and used anything like on a daily basis but I have a good history with WD drives for my backups and this one seems to continue that trend.ONLY CONCERN: I wish all these manufacturers of new HDD's would stop using that shallow, thin pin USB3 port and plug for the drive, why not just use the standard/traditional USB port and plug? It is larger, more stable, less prone to getting loose and causing problems (which I've had with a previous drive) and just look cleaner by far.

Excellent performance. Impressed with its performance and the price which I got it for (under 9K), I ordered another one of the same brand and type, but of different colour. Both are working remarkably well. The data read and write speed is also great. One of the two HDDs I got is connected 24x7 to my server computer and is working continuously for the past 4 months. The External hard drive and similar other 4 similar (My Passport & My Book) Hard Drives bought subsequently became unreadable after few years of safe storage as well as very low usage. Lost too much data. Absolutely no support from Western Digital. Bad choice.

My first transfer was 178GB data which contained about 767 files and 11 folders. When transfer started it showed about 30 minutes to complete and it was completed in 31 minutes, so not a big difference in estimated time which can be related to constant or less variable data transfer speed. The data transfer was carried out on an i7 3rd gen laptop with 8 GB RAM (if that can help clear any doubts). Although I was going another product for the first time (looking to buy a seagate 4TB external drive), I bought this because of price and my loyalty towards the brand WD (I now have 4 drives in total). It is also felt somewhat lighter 2 TB my passport ultra model. I wish WD increases the cable length without compromising with transfer speeds.My only complaint about the product is that when I checked online for the warranty status of the product, it showed ending in June although I bought it in November. So I'm guessing the product was imported for testing purpose by the seller and then sold for current WD 4TB my passport ultra price. Also the the product's price isn't officially listed on WD website. I hope I get the warranty!

This is the 3rd WD external hdd i am buying, the first 2 had issues and end up having to replace it via warranty. Since WD is offering 4tb in a good price and after going through so many reviews thought to take a chance ( 3rd time ). So far this is good, i had copied all my contents from 2tb to this new 4tb. Data transfer is good.I strongly suggest buying a cover case for this hdd since if you drop this or you tend carry this around its better to have this on a case so that it will be safe.
