Excellent
Having read that the optimum humidity for cigar storage is 65 degrees and excess of 75 degrees ruins them, I calibrated several digital hygrometers. Then tried several methods: the “Green foam” with distilled water that most humidors come with (unsatisfactory) and the transparent beads with PPG (marginal). As an occasional cigar smoker, aware that some cigars could end-up being stored for several years and thereby ruined by unsuitable humidity, I kept experimenting and chanced upon Boveda. To my delight the Boveda packs do exactly what they say on the box. They keep cigars at the desired humidity. Care needs to be taken: Most humidors are im-perfect and let in outside air, some more than others. Therefore you’ll need to carefully follow manufacturer’s instructions, not least first “seasoning” the humidor. Having done that, the packs work great and are recommended. Of course, in a leaky humidor you may have to compensate: A calibrated hygrometer showing 62 degrees with a 65 pack would mean the humidor is “leaking” 3 degrees humidity. In which case, perhaps the next up (69) is the right pack to generate a “real” 66. Some experimentation is in order. As an aside, being somewhat concerned that placing a Boveda pack on top of cigars may not be elegant (although approved by the manufacturer) I purchased a Spanish cedar “cage” that can hold 2 or 4 Boveda packs, also made by Boveda, that magnetically adheres to the a humidor’s lid.

Boveda humidity packs work perfectly - strongly recommended
The Boveda packs really work well. I got sick and tired of over-humidification in my small Adorini Torino humidor, a problem I'm pretty sure many people have with whatever make of humidor they have. Adorini's humidification system is supposed to be among the best - a gel pad inside a smart holder that is re-charged with distilled water, and it worked fine for about 6 months holding a steady 72-74% humidity (which is slightly high, but ok), but then it started massively over humidifying at 80% plus, which means mould. Even getting a new gel pad didn't solve the problem. So in the end I bit the bullet and got the Boveda 75% humidity pack, and I certainly do not regret it. There's always a little humidity loss from a wooden humidor, and I've found that one 60g 75%-rated pack holds my Torino humidor perfectly on 71% humidity - just where I want it. It's perhaps a more expensive means of humidifying than most, but a) it works, and b) given the packs are supposed to last a couple of months, when you work out how much it costs over time, and think about how much the cigars themselves cost, it's really not much. Strongly recommended.
