We switched to a salt water system this year and the pool store kept telling us to add salt even though the display on the chlorinator said the level was at high end. I bought this to see the salt level and compare it to the other readings. It arrived calibrated so I turned in on and placed in the pool. The values stabilize quickly, maybe in 15 seconds. The salt value was 100ppm less than chlorinator. Much closer than the pool store's value. Also the pH reading was within a tenth of the expensive test kit we have and the pool store's value. It is much easier to read the pH value on this instead of the test strips. The temperature reading is a nice extra too. I didn't need this but it agrees, with a tenth of a degree, of the thermometers I have. Very pleased with the this tester.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Needed an accurate salt reading the strips were giving bad readings. Everything else on the strip was accurate. Bought this then misplaced it so only been using a few weeks but works great on salt levels. Actually the only way we use it. Check the readings with the pool store readings. Takes all the worry away about the pool readings. Easy to use too.

I’ve read that some pH meters can have incorrect readings after a while, but that hasn’t seemed to be the case for me. I use this for “gardening” to get the pH right for my watering after using liquid nutrients. So I use it quite often. Has held up so far. I do rinse it with regular water after every use, maybe that helps. But yeah, every couple of months I use pH papers to test and compare with and it’s always lined up so far!

Instructions aren't the best. It sends it with 3 PH tester packets, but doesn't say if it needs to be calibrated.

Even with proper calibration, this tester showed slightly elevated reading on both Salinity and PH. After 6 months of using it once a week, the results went up significantly making the tester useless. For example, for PH 7.6 it would show 8.8, which is an extremely distorted reading. I contacted the manufacturer and they suggested to buy more of their calibration substance to check it, while their warranty card they would take care of the product for 12 months. Considering the tester is not reliable and the manufacturer doesn’t stand behind their product, better look for a higher quality tester elsewhere.

I love this meter. Very easy to use, easy to calibrate and seems accurate. I use it twice a day and the batteries have held up well.
