Will this fit an 02 wrangler X? It has a soft top on it now so do I need to buy the windshield channel?

Yes, you will need to get the windshield channel. Other than that, it should work. Fits my 2004 perfectly. Best safari top I've ever purchased, very durable.

lost the metal bracket that is used for the rear straps is there a way I can replace or purchase?

I don't use mine, I wrap the strap around the rollbar then wrap them up with 2"wide Velcro I purchased from home depot. I don't like the straps fluttering in the wind.
