Time Warrior is a revolutionary, non-linear approach to dealing with time, as bold as it is fresh and new. What is non-linear time management? Non-linear time management is a commitment to action in the present moment. It's looking at a task and choosing NOW or “not now.” If it's not now, it's got to be NEVER, or placed in a time capsule that has a spot on the calendar and therefore out of the mind. The mind must remain clear and empty of all future considerations. In non-linear time management there is no line extending from my mind into the future. No tapeworm of unfinished business coming out of my body.Non-linear time management is best expressed by Elvis Presley when he sings, “It's now or never, come hold me tight.” The old-fashioned time management programs had a huge, burdensome focus on the future. The line of tasks stretched out forever into the future. It was fear-based and it was overwhelming to have so much of a future to carry around with you.It resulted in massive, pathological procrastination. Everything got put off in the name of perfectionism. Nothing was bold or reckless anymore. Therefore there wasn't much astonishing success happening for the world-weary practitioner. But when Chandler teaches people to go non-linear, a strange thing happens. New life and energy come in. When they open their emails they don't get to save them for later. They have to deal with them if they open them. Like little attackers in a computer game, there is no longer anywhere to hide. Life becomes a great game and everything is handled right now on the spot. All fear comes from picturing the future. Putting things off increases that fear. Soon we are nothing but heavy minds weighing down on weary brains. Too much future will do that.Only a warrior's approach will solve this. A warrior takes his sword to the future. A warrior also takes his sword to all circumstances that don't allow him to fully focus. Chandler is a coach by profession, and when he works with a client who is “overwhelmed” with too much to do and not enough time to do it he will often ask them to give him an example of one of the things they are burdened by every time they think about it. The client will give him an example and they will do that thing right now. The client is amazed. The only thing missing in this client's life was a bias for action. Most people think too much. Then they compound that problem by studying the feelings that come up for them as a result of that thinking. All this time that they spend thinking and feeling they could have been taking action. In a non-linear way. Linear time starts with your birth and ends (at the end of the line) with your death. Along that long linear line it's just one damn thing after another. Then the lights go out. What was the point? Non-linear time management stops all that weary nonsensical treading on the road to one's destiny.Rather than inching along horizontally you must simply rise up. Your life can now become vertical. Now you don't postpone challenges, you rise to them. You become a warrior. And it works. How, exactly, does it work? This book will show you exactly how it works. Review: This is the BIBLE for Time Management! EXCELLENT BOOK! - I've discovered one of the best kept secrets in Time Management, especially for a "creative" mind like mine! It's the Time Warrior by Steve Chandler! For decades I used to be so motivated, having lots of coffee to keep selling selling..focusing, driving...creating....problem solving....and then one day I just burned out! My body put a stop to it and claimed its sleep! I lost all motivation and energy. Coffee no longer jump started my day and when I even thought about getting back into my professional life, starting with managing my time, I felt sick. Brian Tracy's aggressive approach in his books now overwhelmed me emotionally and made me feel nauseous. Then, after two years of retreating, by chance, I heard Steve's interview on Michael Neill's show. When I saw the subject of Michael's show, Time Management, I almost didn't listen, but something whispered to just give it a chance. After hearing this interview, I immediately ordered Steve's book. It has been such a gentle push for me! Little tiny nuggets are showered in the book like, "What do I want to produce? What structure will guarantee that?" and "By simply beginning the task we were putting off, and finding out by doing so that well begun is half done." Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed with too much to do, I read, "Just do that one thing - you know what it is - it's the thing you're thinking about right now." I focus on that next action with ease and without overwhelming and stressing myself out! The Time Warrior has been like a bible to me. I have sentences underlined, highlighted, marked, and I carry it with me everywhere I go to keep focused and motivated! It's perfect for the person who tends to get distracted a lot as well. The Time Warrior isn't just about managing time. It actually gives the reader the gentle and simple tools to overcome their psychological blocks and to become an honorable person of integrity. Through this book, I discovered Steve Chandler's work! He has audio downloads of his coaching that is so effective and interesting! He has a lot of samples of his coaching on his website as well. And his publishing company, Maurice Bassett, is wonderful! I personally spoke with Maurice about a download I wanted to purchase, and this gentleman was filled with great information and was so inspiring, kind, and helpful! My daily life is richer now, because I discovered the work and service of Steve Chandler and Maurice! If you are burnt out, tired of striving to meet your goals every day, tired of your undone to-do lists, and feel like you can't keep a thought in your brain, this book is for you! And, even if you feel on-fire with your to-do list, the tools in this book will prevent burn out and get you to where you want to go sooner and from the state of authenticity. This is one of my ALL TIME FAVORITE books! Thank you, Steve, for writing it, and thank you, Maurice for publishing it! The world is a better place because of your work!!! Review: A new classic - Time Warrior---a new classic This book is oh-so thrilling to me. Because I have been studying and teaching about use of one's time for ten years and I feel Steve has got this topic nailed. I love his directness and simplicity. His system is focused on being in the present and focusing on one thing at a time---no matter what!. An example for instance is his advice on checking on our email. When we do it--do it completely--answer all letters and have done with it--it's NOW or never. I tried this yesterday. I approached my email, intentionally and leisurely. At the end of my email session, I felt complete and clean. And also much more aware of what was being said to me in the emails. Steve says "I now hold focusing on the task at hand to be a slow and sacred practice." My, my, my, what a wonderful way to live. It takes practice. But one lives one's life more effectively. He says things in a way that makes us understand it clearly. Maybe we've heard this term-do one thing at a time before--but somehow Steve cuts through our fog and we sit up and pay attention and are actually inspired to do what he suggests. It's easy to read and would serve as a good reference book. I've read it twice and will read it again soon. I also like that he gives credit to his mentors and tells us how to find them. One feels that one can trust what he says. Steve has written many books and has been in the motivational field for twenty years. He's worked with hundreds of clients. And he turned his own life around by working with great teachers. He tackles such big subjects as people pleasing, self- doubt and over-commitment. And he tells us that we must abolish interruptions and distractions in such a way that these admonitions can be clearly heard. "One hour of interrupted time is worth three hours of interrupted time." And he states clearly and succinctly that usually a time management problem is a "lack of purpose" problem. The person reading his book will learn about returning to the present, over and over and detaching from the future and the past. For as Steve explains, by entering the present, we burst through the barriers of linear-boring old time and become timeless. Buy this book. Sandra Niven

Genius
Steve Chandler has created another Winner. I got the CD version of his book, Time Warrior, so I could listen to it in my car. Chandler is unmatched in his ability to look at old concepts in fresh ways, showing his readers and listeners how they can implement real changes for the better in their own lives. Chandler always inspires, gives great real-life examples, and gets right to the point, in his succinct, no-nonsense style. He is also very funny! There's nothing like a good dose of humor to make the medicine go down, for changing oneself and one's habits is not always easy or palatable, as Chandler knows from hard-earned experience. The one thing I miss in this version is hearing Chandler's voice read the material. The narrator has an upbeat voice, but after ordering the audio version of The Joy of Selling, I grew to love Chandler's distinctive baritone and to feel that he was coaching me personally. I loved this book and will continue to buy Steve Chandler's books and CDs, because he always delivers what I most need to hear, even if I don't always like it! Sincerely, Julie Clancy

Easily Underestimated, But Extremely Helpful
I bought this book in the Kindle version and read it through in a couple of days, highlighting extensively. This is the kind of books cynics are inclined to dismiss as pop psych, as light weight, as New Agey, as repetitious, whatever. I could do the same thing, because I am a life long cynic. However, despite the fact that the chapters are very short, little more than vignettes with observations attached, or some one idea developed a bit, I found the book extremely valuable because it clearly communicates certain core ideas that are intensely empowering, at least for me. For example, throughout, Chandler demonstrates a bias toward action. Rather than ruminate, struggling with indecision, feelings of insecurity, or perfectionism of whatever variety, Chandler repeatedly and in a variety of ways prods us to take action, assuring us that it is in action that we find empowerment, freedom and joy. And he is right. I loved the book and am rereading it now. The way I see things, any self-help book is worth the purchase price if it implants within me even ONE idea that increases the freedom and productivity of my life. This book delivered more than once and is a real keeper. Remember though, if you are a cynic, you will find plenty to be cynical about. However, if you can get past your cynicism, you will come away as I have, grateful to Steve Chandler for bothering to write as he has. I subtracted one star because of the lightweight style. He could have gone deeper and made an even better impact.

Time Warrior
The insights contained in this book are truly important, and the author keep all his ideas in small, easy to understand chapters. The only thing that I absolutely hated was the editing. It`s probably because I bought the kindle edition not the real book but It`s absolutely annoying. There are over 91 chapters in this book with simply no table of contents, no discernible paragraphs and no distinction between chapters, along with many spelling errors - and I`m talking changing comas for dots. All this creates a less than ideal experience for reading the book. If it were only for the content I would have rated it 5 stars.

Much More Than a Book About Time Management
Steve Chandler does it again! I have never picked up one of his books and put it down in disappointment. His straightforward, open way of sharing the knowledge and life lessons he has learned make reading his self-discovery/ self-help books some of the best investments I have ever made. I must be honest and say that the first time I picked up one of his books it was to mock the title. (Seventeen Lies That Are Holding You Back and The Truth That Will Set You Free.) I thought a book with such a title could only hold mockable, self absorbed content, but after reading two pages while sitting on the floor of my public library, I quickly changed my tune. (And I laughed out loud as I thought of the old adage about books and their covers). I ended up checking that book out from the library, but when the time came to return it, I realized I had to have my own copy - and maybe a copy for a friend or two. Over the years I've purchased about a dozen copies of that book, as well as most of the others Mr. Chandler has written. This year I managed to miss the fact that Steve had released this new title. I ended up learning of it via a friend in a Facebook message simply saying 'Thank You' -- When I responded to my friend to find out why I was being thanked, I learned that it was for recommending Steve Chandler's books to them. It turns out that I had turned on to the 'Seventeen Lies' book several years back, and that like me, Mr. Chandler's words had deeply affected them and changed their lives for the better. So, do I think this book is worth the price? Without a doubt.

Don't be a slave to your calendar. Be a master of your life.
I have listened to the audio version 4 times over the last 2 months as a continual reminder of these lessons. Each time, I am humbled by the brilliant yet simple insights. Time Warrior is not about how to manage your calendar. It is a book about how to manage your life more effectively. Rather than being a process, it is 101 short meditations on how to change the perspective on your life by focusing on what is really important and eliminating all the rest. It is about putting the play and fun back into your work. It is about bringing your best to everything you do every day. It is about controlling the things that you can and letting go of those you cannot. It is about learning to master your emotions, which in turn will lead you to master your time. Master your time, and you master your life. Be brief. Be swift. Be effective.

Forget Time Management...Just Read This Book
Until reading Steve Chandler's new book, Time Warrior, I constantly raced ahead to capture some big future prize or to avoid some imagined future calamity. This always led to mediocre results and a constant feeling of being overwhelmed by the mountain of things I felt I needed to do to grow my business. I thought my issue was poor time management. However, when I first picked Time Warrior up, I happened to open randomly to Chapter 4. "This book is not about time management," Chandler writes. "A Time Warrior does not manage time." He had my attention. What a Time Warrior does instead, Chandler explains, is slow everything down, focus on the present moment and make it as powerful as he can. Linear Time ceases to exist. The only thing that is important is what you are doing in this moment. A Time Warrior stops trying to please everyone, and focuses instead on truly serving someone. He knows when to say "no." She takes an "overwhelming" job she's been avoiding and does one minute of work on it with laser focus. Then another. I will probably be giving my collection of time management books and audios away. I've stopped trying to conquer linear time and am now focusing all my thoughts and energy on slowing down to be present for the client or project right in front of me. And I'm already seeing how much more powerful I can be when I do. As a speaker, coach, and the author of two books, The High Diving Board: How to Overcome Your Fears and Live Your Dreams and Become a Client Magnet: 27 Strategies to Boost Your Client-Attraction Factor , I now better understand how Chandler, a top speaker and busy coach himself, found a way to write more than 20. HE is a Time Warrior. Shift your mind, not your workload. Maybe there's a deep spiritual message in Time Warrior, but Chandler manages to deliver it in short humorous chapters with great visual imagery and dead-on motivational quotes.

Lots of things regarding my life
-what I liked: the are a lot of matters in this book that I actually have seen in my life, some of them I started to apply them and actually I found some improvements in the quality of life that I have, and better results, so far, im more organized and have more goals completed. -What I learned: one of the main things I learned is the mantra "everything is in your head", there are a lot of issues, good things and bad things in life, but the way we face them is what actually makes the difference, and the determination we take and the fearless we have regarding the weay we do the things is what actually kills procrastination, helped me to wash away my victim of life and circunstances status, and help me to look at myself with more personal value, that is one of the other things I learned from this book, value comes from ourselves, not from the others.

Love, love, love it. On my third read!
Let me say this first - I love Steve Chandler. I've read at least 10 of his books, all multiple times. This one is no exception. As usual for a Steve Chandler book, you get more than you expect. I expected to get time management strategies and tips and tricks. Steve doesn't do tips and tricks. He goes deep, to the root, and helps you weed it out. Expect to rethink how you think about time. Forever. And expect to rethink about how you use your time. Thank you Steve, eternally!
