Does this scale sync withgarmin connect and/or my fitness pal?

Please note that the scale app can connect to Apple Health, Fitbit, and Google Fit, I am sorry to tell you that currently, it can not connect to the Garmin app and my fitness pal.

Why exactly is this not suitable for professional athletes??

My body fat is ~12%, but the scale reports my body fat as 22%, because I'm athletic. The scale measures weight and also uses a (very small) electrical current through your body to measure your body's electrical impedance. With this data, and some assumptions, and calculations, software derives the other health stats. One of the assumptions is that you are average. While it would be easy to implement, they do not enable their software to include input for your level of fitness. If you've used other fitness products you may have been asked during setup to describe your level of fitness or enter how often you exercise. Those questions enable results that are much more accurate. While Eufy rightfully boasts of the accuracy and precision of its scales measurement of weight it oddly makes no effort to be accurate in the other health stats provided.

Can I use this with Google Fit without installing the eufy app?

No, you will need to install the eufylife app to insure a data sync with Google Fit.

When using the scales, do I have to have the application running on my phone in order for the data to sync?

It is recommended that the user opens the app first to ensure a "Connected" status before weighing to make sure that the measurement data can be successfully synced to the device/account. If not, the measurement data will be recorded on the scale, and then sync to the next account/device when it connects to the scale.
