So glad I bought it
Context: My partner and I went on a road trip for a week and had to, unfortunately, leave the dogs behind. I obviously had people constantly checking on them but I didn't want to burden those friends and family with dealing with feedings and stuff, too, so I bought this. The camera isn't as great as they're saying, but this is fantastic! I've used it with larger and smaller kibble for my dogs (I bought two of them).I still feed them by hand when I'm home, but I do use this when I'm gone for a whole day. I was worried it may be inconsistent, but I've measured the output so many times and it's keeps putting out the same amount of food! I know that my boy (Thorn) needs 12 servings and my girl (Saphira) needs 10 servings; it's perfect. I can see that it's coming out and that they're eating, I can use the camera to see where in the room they're hanging out, and I feel totally safe relying on it to keep them fed!Super easy to set up and use (with the Smart Life app)!Full disclosure, to make sure they're fed, I only feed them in real-time. I haven't tried the scheduled meals so I can only speak to the limited features I have used.

Easy to set up and schedule feeding times and amounts.
I have a cat and a small dog. I use two of these - one for each animal. This design of this is great! The camera allows me to see my cat on the counter when it's food time for him and another one of these is on the floor for the dog. What I do is have the dog feeder activate a minute after the cat food feeder. This prevents the cat from eating the dog food because the cat eats slowly. The dog cannot reach the cat feeder. This is very sturdy build and works through the WIFI in the house and I can hear and say things to the animals from where I have Internet access. The value is terrific because I just fill up the container and not worry about feeding the pets for a while. The container is sized so I don't have to refill for about three weeks. If you have animals that need separate food containers, two of these works well.

Essential for a kitty when you’re not home
Working well for us. Such a peace of mind that we can put out food anytime . I wish we had this before .It takes stills photos of anyone coming by. You can also bring up live video and it comes up quickly. There is no hour delay like our blink cameras . You can keep watching kitty tv without having to hit continue like our blink cameras. It holds alot of food and you can press the button anytime to put some out for your cat.It comes with an anchor but we didn’t anchor it yet. But if you’re outside or have a dog or child you probably should. A raccoon has tried to take ours 3 times already and then got stuck because it was plugged into the wall. But he knocked it down and threw it. It didn’t break open. And it still works.I highly recommend this product. The peace of mind and convenience of being able to make sure you cat is getting fed is such a relief . Now I don’t have to worry that someone else stole his food and watch him go hungry like before . Just make sure it’s anchored . Thankfully we were always home when the raccoon struck but we will anchor it for the future for while we are at work or away .Photos attached are photos taken by the feeder . Great quality!!! Make sure to turn on motion detector to get photos taken for you so you know who is getting fed . (Unless you only have one inside cat of course ) we changed out the bowl for our own ceramic bowl but the one that comes with it is plastic and relatively large as well.

Our Backyard Cat's New Favorite Gadget!
We recently set up the Frienhund Automatic Cat Feeder with 2K Camera for a stray cat that has made our backyard her home, and it's been a delightful experience. The feeder's dispensing sound has become a dinner bell for her—she comes running every time she hears it, and watching her amazement as food appears is heartwarming. The feeder's features are impressive: the 2K camera with night vision allows us to monitor her visits even after dark, and the two-way audio lets us interact with her remotely. The 7L capacity means fewer refills, and the detachable design makes cleaning straightforward. Setting up the feeding schedule via the app was simple, and we've had no issues with connectivity.Overall, this feeder has not only ensured our backyard guest is well-fed but has also provided us with countless joyful moments.

2.4Ghz network connection required
This unit will NOT connect unless you have a dedicated 2.4Ghz network connection. Without connecting to the app, the unit is useless since you cannot set a feeding schedule. My t-mobile router fluctuats between 5g/2.4G. With the aid of t-mobile tech support, I was eventually able create a dedicated 2.4g network. Once connected this feeder works as expected. This item replaces a feeder I decided to replace after 6yr of flawless operation. The features that drew me to this product are; the transparent hopper, the ease of setting/editing the schedule and the stainless bowl insert. With my old feeder I had to open the hopper to see how much food was inside. Changing portions or setting the clock, I either had to lay on the floor or unplug and put it on the counter. (Either way the interface was hard to see and tedious to use.) The entire dish had to be removed in order to wash it.The camera is an upgrade I don’t care about but am happy it doesn’t require the sd card. I’m not using the speaker. My cat hears the kernels hit the bowl. The one thing I prefer with my old feeder is it had smaller portion sizes. It actually had different inserts for small and large kibble. If you’re looking for weight management, a one portion reduction is aprox 10 grams. Smaller reductions in portion size would be better. And ultimately easier to dial in the desired weight. My cat is a 15.5 lb Maine Coon. Currently giving him 5 portions (aprox 50grm) per day.
