Perfect for my refrigerator repair project
I recently got this Sikelan Refrigerator Compressor Kit for my home refrigerator. I honestly never imagined that I'd be working on a refrigerator, but.... We have a 2 year-old Samsung inverter fridge that uses R600a refrigerant. It developed a refrigerant leak after some very rough handling by movers. I also see that the brazing where copper tubing is joining aluminium tubing is showing considerable corrosion. Apparently, this is a fairly common issue with this and other brand fridges. After attempting a repair to the tubing, the compressor stopped working, I called a local refrigerator repair company and they flat told me they won't work on r600 systems, and that even if they did, it would be cheaper to replace the unit. That's what we've come to: Your $2000 refrigerator fails and you should just toss it out and buy another $2000 refrigerator. I just can't subscribe to that ridiculous approach. So,.... I thought I might give this a go. I will now be removing the old compressor, installing this new one, and soldering the connections. From there, I'll purge with nitrogen, evacuate the system again, and recharge with fresh r600a, and I should be good to go. Given the volatile nature of r600 refrigerant, I wouldn't recommend this repair to anyone who doesn't have some pretty serious DIYer skills, a commitment to learning how to do a proper repair, and careful attention to safety. The set includes four base rubber feet for isolating vibration and noise, a capacitor, relay and protector case. I'll update my review after I have this installed and running!
