FANTASY HAS FINALLY GROWN UP
Although I have occasionally read Fantasy fiction, I have to admit I find the genre generally unimpressive. Thanks to the Hellequin series I find that Urban Fantasy is very much to my liking. Well drawn characters, believable situations, well known settings, combined with a storyline that mixes past and present to weave a compelling narrative. Some find the humour unattractive, but fantasy needs to be funny, as the King of Fantasy, the late great Terry Pratchett, has proven beyond doubt. This is a series I can heartily reccomend to fans of the very best in Fantasy fiction.

Just keep getting better
As a series of books you you can really see the author improving and growing into the story he's created. The first book was a lot of fun, but with flaws (bit too graphic, bit scattered) but by book two it started to come together and by this book (five) the flaws with the first book are nowhere to be seen and its become a deep and compelling series with lots of little intricacies and plot subtleties. Great fun and a book I make an effort to pick up when reading!

A new author, to follow from here on . . . .
Bought this when I finished the first 4 books from an Amazon 99p special offer on a whim. I was bored of sticking to my preferred list of authors and decided to move out of my comfort zone and I'm SO HAPPY I DID.The humour and language of that humour, is just very . . . ENGLISH. Read it and you will get what I mean, it's very refreshing to come across a book that impresses a style of humour and communication that can be attributed to a nationality. Everything I have read previously has been very Americanized if you like, but this is very, very English and I love it. Just not looking forward to finishing these books, when you find a novelist you really enjoy, finishing the books they have penned is a real come down.

Fantasy rollercoaster
Another fantastic edition of The Hellequin Chronicles, I love the fast pace, the moving between worlds the great sense of humour, great fight scenes and lashings of blood, excellent! If Steve McHugh reads this I would just add 2 observations firstly could you write a book that involves West Quay 2 being obliterated by Trolls, Griffins,Giants and sorcerers please I walk past the monster it is becoming every day and really loathe it, also although I love the character Remy I just can't get that annoying Fox with the eye patch from Labyrinth out of my head don't know why but picturing him like that is all wrong I know, I need to deal with it!

Enemies of Hellequin beware.....
What another fantastic book, I really love this series. Mystery and intrigue aplenty, with copious amounts of action and fighting. Nate is my favourite anti-hero. I'm already reading the next title in the series.I highly recommend this book.Enjoy.

Lies Ripped Open
Great stuff, I thoroughly enjoyed this romp through Avalon and beyond. Nathan Garrett is one Hell of a character, everything a real hero is, flawed, funny, tragic, loved by many, hated by even more. A truly wondrous journey through King Arthur's land, and all the lands beyond. Leave your worries at the books beginning and give your Imagination free rein. Fab

Another storming instalment
I've read all the series and while it can fall into predictability or cliche on occasion it's still essentially an enormous supernatural romp of an action movie. I will absolutely by the next and continue to do so for the foreseeable future. For those who have missed this series think Dresden files crossed with supernatural and a sprinkling of Reacher. Solid action that didn't let up until the bad guys are dead and in bloody chunks.

Magic!
This series of books manage to combine magic, sorcery, fantastical creatures with our own, everyday world without stretching our imagination or belief in the story too far.I like the main character Nate for his fighting skills which match his sense of honour and ethics ,coupled with a dry sense of humour .Having two connected timelines is interesting and works.Rollicking good adventures and tense situations abound alongside detailed descriptions of everyday life.
