Q: Approximately how much will be left after subtracting the shells after cracking? ie: the 176 ounce bag will yield how many ounces nut meat? Thanks.

I only bought it once. So for me, I’d say 60-70% of the bag was eatible not excluding shells which off course are discarded. But, cracking them open isn’t easy and is time consuming. There high in salicylates which is a problem for me too.

Q: How should i store them?

I keep other nuts in glass jars in the refrigerator, and the remainder of the opened bags in the kitchen cabinet or on the shelf in the refrigerator- where ever there is room. The new Pili's are waiting for me to test for the first time on the kitchen counter in the bag. I don't remember the seller making a comment about best storage. Hope you enjoy them ;)
