Great Question! AtopiCream™ offers micro-encapsulated ingredients for rapid absorption. Ingestion should be avoided. The label instructions include "rub lotion completely into the skin". Additionally, this formulation is designed to penetrate through the fur for maximum contact with the skin and absorption into the epidermis. When applied as directed, licking of the area does not pose a significant concern. As with all medications, keep out of reach of children.

AtopiCream HC is formulated for external use on the skin to reduce itching, redness and inflammation. It is not intended to be ingested. A proper veterinary exam is often required to diagnose the underlying cause of the “itch”. AtopiCream HC can be used as part of a multi-modal treatment approach for atopic dermatitis or as sole therapy for seasonal allergies, dry skin or flea allergy dermatitis.
