I am very impressed!!!
I've been collecting folding pocket knives for about 2 years now. I have over 300 knives. Most of them are already sharp cuz I've never used them. I have a few that I rotate in my EDC weekly. Those get a lot of use. I've never been good at sharpening knives on a whetstone. I've tried many drag through sharpeners. I saw a YouTube video about this and know Work Sharp is the industry leader. I decided to try this one. Because of the angle guides and the simple nature of this field sharpener I was able to sharpen the knife razor sharp first try. I am writing this review about 2 hours after opening the product. Since I've opened it I pulled 20 or so of my dullest knives. I've sharpened them all up within a half an hour. Every one of them is razor sharp and it was very simple to use. I was even able to sharpen some of the very hard steels. I have never been more impressed with a sharpener. I used dozens of different types and styles throughout my life. This sharpener is plenty small. You can fit it at any go bag or whatever. I haven't tried it on any tools or anything yet but I imagine it works fairly well. I'm giving this my highest recommendation. If you need a new sharpener by this one. Happy shopping!

Great Design and this is a Sharpener that You Will Actually Use
I bought a 3-Pack of these sharpeners and have been very impressed with the design and ease of use. I have used a number of knife sharpening systems and equipment over the years, but most require considerable time to set up, adjust and use. This sharpener is portable and offers a number of sharpening options including coarse and fine sharpening steels, four different ceramic sharpening rods and a small leather stop with built-in angle guides (for sharpening blades at 20-degree angles). The sharpening results are more than satisfactory for such a small and portable tool. I keep one in a kitchen drawer for sharpening chef knives, one in the barn workroom for pocket knives and other cutting tools and one in my prepper supplies. I also bought the Work Sharp Pocket Sharpener, but this tool offers a lot more features and sharpening options. So many things sound good on paper, but this is a tool that you will actually use on a regular basis due to its flexibility and ease of use.

Look No Farther - This Is The Sharpener You Need!
If like me you have been searching the hundreds of options for sharpening your kitchen knives your search is over. Most people don't want to become expert knife sharpeners, but just need a way to get their everyday knives, whether kitchen, utility or survival, to a rapid and useable edge. This sharpener fits the bill. After a very few passes across the fine stone, a few on the ceramic hone and the strop, I was able to slice multiple find slices of paper with ease. I mean like butter ease! It's easy to use, easy to store, safe to use and has a decent grip. I would say this has the best value for the money and time to produce a keen edge than ANY other sharpener on the market. I'm going to order another just in case they ever stop making this one. No water, no electricity, no learning curve, no "expert" attitude, no dulling of your knives. Just a few simple strokes, using common sense, and you will be super-pleased to have heeded my review. But wait, there's more... It has a hone for your fishhooks, another for your serrated cutlery, and two very long ceramic hones that will last a long, long time. I can't remember that last time I was so pleased to have purchased something on Amazon. Go for it, you won't be sorry, and won't have to dread sharpening your knives any longer. You will absolutely be please to do so.

Gives a Razor edge on the fly
In the field this works very well in a pinch. Puts a 20° working edge on the bevel, the ceramic puts a differential 22° bevel on the blade giving it a razor edge that can then be honed on the leather strop. The strop has green compound already applied, I would recommend purchasing more for later usage. The plates are magnetic and can be removed to scrub down with a stiff tooth brush, then dried. The additional plates it came with are of good quality and will be used once the plates it came with wear down, which for how much I sharpen knives will be once ever 8 or so years; but I do sharpen once or twice a week depending on how much bushcrafting work I do. The steels I use on knives tend to be 1095 carbon, and the high carbon stainless stuff from China that kirshaw uses, and I used a magnacut small blade and all of these seem to work well with this sharpener. The case it came in is nice and ergonomic, just fits the sharpener and two stones snuggly; the case core seems to made of EVA foam that is sturdy as long as you don't run over it with a vehicle you should be fine. I would recommend using honing oils on the diamond sharpener to keep it from getting clogged. A clogged sharpener can be frustrating to use. The set angles are nice to have as a refference point. Do not sharpen all the way until the knife tip drags off, this will blunt your tip quickly, sharpen just to the tip and let off, do not scrap the tip off the sharpener. I use this resting on a rock or a log or on a table at home, the thumb notch to hold the sharpener does not give you enough stability to sharpen the knife proper. I think it a great sharpener, an all in one type deal that gives you a razor edge on the fly. I think its a great value for the money and would recommend to anyone.

Low expectations, high use!
Absolutely loved this item. Picked this up thinking it would be one of those tools I use once and forget about, but it's actually been clutch. Got my pocket knife back to shaving sharp way faster than I expected, and the guides make it pretty hard to mess up even if you're not a sharpening wizard. It's compact enough to throw in a pack without taking up a bunch of space, which is a huge plus. The different grit options are nice because you can do a quick touch-up or bring a beat-up edge back to life. I've used a few sharpening systems before, and this one feels like the sweet spot between simple and effective. Definitely one of those purchases that makes you wonder why you waited so long to get one.

Incredible system
Convenience, portability, versatility, effectiveness, it is an incredible all in one sharpening system. I am fairly new to sharpening, but this makes it easy. Contained in this ingenious 7x1.5” device is a coarse plate, fine plate, strop, ceramic honing rod, a smaller ceramic rod for serrations, fish hook groove, and an integrated wrench for disassembling your arrowheads. They thought of everything. If you lift up one of the plates there is a small storage compartment where you can keep a ferro rod, oil, green compound, small cloth, whatever you want. I tried it out on a cheap dullish Balisong that I’ve had forever. It’s never been this sharp. Just remember, if you’re still not getting the edge you want, just keep at it. After 50 strokes on each side of the blade with the fine plate, honing rod and strop, the blade was quite sharp, but still not razor sharp. So another 50 strokes on each side with the rod and the strop and it was shaving with ease. I’ve discovered that real sharpening is almost therapeutic, and incredibly satisfying to get that keen edge on a blade. I have a whole pile of knives ready to go, and hairless patches on my arms and legs. It would be nice if there was something more to hold onto while sharpening, perhaps a handle that folded over and enclosed it like a balisong or telescoped out of it, but I would not want to sacrifice its compact size. Still a 5 star product that works like a charm. UPDATE 11/20/24: So this has been my primary sharpening system for 10 months now and I still love it. I have not yet spent hundred of dollars on a set of water stones or a premium bench top sharpener, and haven’t felt the need to. I recently purchased the Sharpal Transforod to see how it compared. The Sharpal has the advantage of using better quality abrasives and being able to adjust the angle guides with the twist of a knob, but it has two fatal flaws IMO. One is the cylinder interfering with my ability to reach the entire cutting edge of most of my blades. The other is the inability to sharpen both sides of the blade without turning the sharpener around, switching hands, or switching to the under side of the sharpener where I cannot see what I’m doing. For these reasons the Worksharp is still my preferred system. Sharpening on it is faster, easier and more accurate. I am hoping, however, that they release an upgraded version (let’s call it the Ultimate Guided Field Sharpener) in the near future with adjustable or removable angle guides. 20 degrees is a great all around sharpening angle, plenty sharp to shave hair, but I find myself wanting to go shallower or steeper for some knives. Also, not all knives come from the factory sharpened at 20 degrees, and sharpening them on this device necessitates reprofiling them. Worksharp’s Benchstone has removable angle guides that can be switched out for 15,17 and 25 degrees and it would be great if the Guided Field Sharpener had the same capability. Oh yeah, and some kind of handle would be nice too.

Just about perfect for sharpening pocket knives.
I am a fairly accomplished sharpener of knives and woodworking tools, though admittedly I am much better with chisels and plane irons than I am with pocket knives. Generally speaking, I sharpen pocket knives using a medium grit Arkansas oil stone coupled with a black ultra fine oil stone, finished up with a charged leather strop. This method produces a very sharp edge, but it is not necessarily convenient or portable. Needing a way to sharpen my knives while at work, I did some research on portable knife sharpening systems and settled on the Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener. Thus far I have been very impressed. The system consists of a coarse diamond plate, a fine diamond plate, a ceramic rod than can be turned to reveal a coarse side, a fine side, and a side specifically tailored to sharpen fish hooks. Lastly, there is a leather strop pre-charged with sharpening compound. The diamond plates are held on with magnets and can be removed, with the compartments underneath holding a sharpening instructions guide on one side, and a tool to screw and unscrew broad arrowheads on the other. But, one of the main features of this system happens to be guides, set at 20 degrees (a good general angle for sharpening pocket knives) at the end of each diamond plate. While these guides are not removeable, they are a great starting point and really do help in getting your knife started at the correct angle. With regular use, they will also help in developing muscle memory. Sharpening is all about consistency, and speaking as a person who felt that he was "experienced", I was very pleasantly surprised when using the guides, as they produced a notable difference in speed and consistency. The ceramic rod and leather strop also have guides, but set at 25 degrees, which help produce a sharper, finer edge. While it isn't necessary to use any of the guides, I believe that they are quite useful, and for an inexperienced sharpener they are potentially great teaching aids. Another great feature of this tools is its portability. The guide is small, light, and will easily fit into a tool box or bag, or even a pocket, all without taking up much space. Having it with me at work has kept both my regular pocket knife and Leatherman Wave sharp and ready to go. A decently maintained knife edge can be made sharp with this tool in less than a minute. And, it offers the convenience of needing no lubrication, though a bit of water can be used on the diamond plates if preferred. If I have one quibble with this tool it is the "coarse" diamond plate. Unless you are sharpening an edge that is badly chipped or damaged, or an incredibly dull edge that you might find on a pocket knife at a souvenir shop, the coarse stone is otherwise too rough to use on a decently maintained knife. For my part, I simply ordered another "fine" plate and replaced the coarse one with it. Now, I alternate between plates when I sharpen, just to even out wear and tear. While this system won't get your pocket knives as sharp as an ultra fine Arkansas stone, it will produce a very, very sharp edge and do it consistently. Work Sharp has several free and short YouTube videos for anyone looking to see this system in action. For cost, convenience, and portability I highly recommend this system to anyone who needs a portable knife sharpener that can quickly put a nice edge on a pocket knife.

You will not regret buying this
I was skeptical, after years of using a wet stones to sharpen i did not trust any other sharpners on the market. My partner asked me to order one of these for him when hunting. It arrived and i tried one of my skinners on it and was amazed that after 30 seconds it was shaving sharp. Next was a blunt kitchen knife from the bottom of the draw, again shaving sharp in 30 seconds! Now the real test, i carefully placed my beautiful $400 Japanese protein knife on the fine side, then the ceramic, then the strop.. it was as sharp as fifteen minutes on the wet stone! I have ordered more. Best sharpening tool i have come across.

IT WORKS WELL
I have always had a problem trying to sharpen my knives due to Arthritic hands so when I first heard about Work Sharp I went onto their website to check out a video on knife sharpening and after watching I bought this Work Sharp Guided Field Knife Sharpener pocket model. And wow I have good sharp knifes fit for their job. My main knife is KA-BAR BK16, and now it works, I also have Victorinex Hunter folder and that is now sharp. So if you intend buying first check the website WORK SHARP and take your time to check the relevant videos before you buy. GOOD Quality ALL ROUND. Finally I noticed about reversing the diamond plates when not in use to protect them.
