Wow, what a difference!
This easyStart is so simple to install and it worked perfect. From the moment I restored power to our 3 1/2 ton unit. Within five cycles it had reduced the surge amperage to 21 A and I can’t hear it start up anymore from inside the house. Highly recommended. The only negative I can tell is it is Short Bluetooth range meaning you need to be right near the unit to make that work. I would prefer to have long range so I could do it from inside the home and not have to stand out in 110° temperatures to look at readings.

It DOES work.
I this worth the cost of entry? YES, if the claims hold true and this unit lasts, the cost of the unit should most certainly extend the life of the condenser. Is it easy to install? YES, they've done a great job with the installation instructions in both YouTube and pdf formats. The initial start up amps for me were 54 amps and the unit would dim the lights and it was quite loud on startup. I have a 2024 Trane and recently bought this home. I got this easy start kit and WOW! No lights dimming, no loud noise and a start up amperage of 19.3 to 20.1 within the first 5 cycles. That said, for the price it would have been nice to have WiFi instead of Bluetooth BUT, I understand the reasoning behind the choice. Here's hoping this gives me many more years of reliable use.

MICRO-AIR EasyStart FLEX 398
The MICRO-AIR EasyStart FLEX 398 - Bluetooth Soft Start Kit for Home Air Conditioner, was very easy to install. I had some questions about the app. So I called Hutch Mountain. They were very friendly and professional. install my easy start on my 4-ton Carrier A/C, which required 108 initial starting amp to start the compressor. After installing the easystart, it reduced the starting amps to 49 from 108 amps. within the five cycles for the easystart to learn, the starting amps went down to 28.9 amps. A week later the starting amps are 27.7 to start the compressor. The MICRO-AIR EasyStart FLEX 398 has reduce the starting amps from 108 to 27 for my A/C. A reduction of 75%. I know I will see a cost savings on my electric bill. Also, my A/C unit operates a lot smoother and quieter. Before installing the MICRO-AIR EasyStart FLEX 398 you could hear when my A/C was starting. Today it is so quiet that I have to go outside to check my A/C to see if it is running. My A/C turns on, runs for about 15 to 20 minutes then shuts off and may turn back on 4o to 60 minutes later. I feel and I am noticing my A/C is running more EFFIECENTLY!!! I strongly recommend this product for all to install in their A/C units. What an AWESOME PRODUCT!!!!

Super easy install, quality product with good directions
I bought this soft start kit for my sons A/C system. I watched many videos online and looked for the best one. When I found a video of a guy putting this exact one on his A/C it looked to easy and appeared to work great. So, I tried it out. My A/C was a different brand than what he installed it on. However, it was almost identical in the installation procedure and was by far the easiest one I saw. I think the overall installation was about 15 minutes. There were no special tools needed and it mounted behind the cover plate just fine. We started it up and measured the amps after installation and it was drastically reduced. The reason we did a soft start was due to power failures and his generator not starting the A/C compressor. He has a 11,000 watt generator with a 12,000 watt start. It struggled to start the A/C. After installing the soft start, it started the A/C with no problem and continued to run along with 2 refrigerators and fans in the house. A little piece of security now when the hurricanes come and power is out. I would highly recommend spending the money on this particular one. It may be a little more but is well worth the ease of installation and the fact that it works with no problem. Just my opinion.

Accurate product description
So far so good! This product is easy to install and does what it says it does. Personally, it has lowered my start-up amps from 69ish-80 to 24.7. I love how they wrote me a handwritten note with the delivery. From what I can tell this will definitely save you money on electricity costs, but only if it lasts and only time will tell. I took a chance and I’m loving it so far. Thank you Hutch mountain!

Easy Installation if you’re DIY inclined. Really works.
We just went through a major storm in N/W Indiana on Aug.11, 2026. Power has not been restored to several towns as a write this. I was lucky enough to have a 24kw Generac whole house generator and was without power for about 60 hours. So one thing I noticed and was very concerned about was when the central air kicked on there was a noticeable audible drop in the generator motor and when it first happened it scared the #### out of me. The generator came back up to speed to run the AC but I’m thinking this can’t be good for the generator or the AC compressor. So while following a neighborhood FB thread a heating and air conditioner company recommended a soft start kit to reduce the amps to the generator so it’s not a shock. It even works with smaller portable generators. Made perfect sense. I did a lot of research, read a lot of reviews and decided to go with this product. So today it came and I decided to put my DIY skills to the test. There is a great video that you can watch from Hutch Mountain that seemed pretty straight forward. But let me tell you that once you cut the first wire aka the “bad chicken” it becomes real, because I know Jack about central air. Anyway I replayed the video about 10 times and felt pretty good I did it right. I was able to mount the unit inside, then the moment of truth…I turned it on and low and behold the AC didn’t blow up. It worked! The fan starts first followed by the compressor. No loud “thunk” when the compressor started and it runs noticeably quieter. I don’t know how many starting amps I was pushing before the install but looks like I’m pushing about 18 now according to the blue tooth app. A word about the app. It’s Bluetooth not WiFi so you need to be near the unit while the air is on to connect. I highly recommend Micro-Air.

Lowered my start by 1/2. Worth the money!
I love this thing. Works great, and I can now comfortably use my generator in the event of a power outage. It also stopped the lights from flickering in the house when the AC turned on. It went from 56 starting amps to 28 amps on a 5 ton Trane unit and it took less than 15 minutes to install. Worth the money!

Works as advertised. Quieter startup and Lower peak amps
Works as advertised. Lowered my peak start amperage which should save money and reduce wear and tear. I had 1 issue where this device stopped working as it experienced a peak start overcurrent fault. I'd give more stars but I think the software is mediocre and not completely intuitive. The accompanying video and FAQ are very helpful. Even a layman can install this. I have a 5 ton R-22 unit with a LRA of 169amps. I measured 80 peak amps before. 40 to 60 amp peak amps after install. My unit started quieter with this device.

Amazing product works as promised….
I run two geothermal heat pumps - one 6 tonne and the other is 3 tonne. No more harsh startup sounds or light flickers on startup. On first startup in learn mode saw 66% reduction in startup current.
