Presence Sensor FP2 Bracket Set, mmWave Radar Wired Motion Sensor

Its a great unit and the installation is not hard at all I like how I can make secondary zones via the GUI in the app. Its accurate overall when working with HA I noticed a few-second delay at times. Installation is easy with the app so its not hard to get working. The value overall is good. It even detects my dog without problems I will say the IOS app is a more of a pain since it by default adds them into the Apple Home software so if you are useing home assistant, you will need to go though the menu to remove them from the apple systems. I had no problems having HA see these devices.

While this can be good if you set it up correctly. There's a lot of things that can interfere with it. If you have shiny surfaces, televisions, balloons, mirrors. If your furniture layout causes blind spots where are you partially hidden from View. If the shape of your room isn't perfectly square or a small rectangle. This device can easily lose you or have ghosted images of people that aren't there. Hit connects up to Home assistant rather easily. Works for basic room motion detection presence detection Etc. It does take some finesse to get it mounted in the right place to be at the correct height and angle to get the most coverage of your room possible. My wife and I have found that it doesn't always respond well if laying down on the couch in certain positions. And because our room is a little tiny bit longer than most, the sensor doesn't pick us up until we're a couple of feet into the room at one end. And every so often it will just lose us completely even though we're just sitting on the couch. So it's mostly there, pretty good, just not perfect yet. Trying to set up any kind of automation to monitor if multiple users are in the room in a specific location or combination of locations. Such as if two people are sitting on the couch watching TV. To have a specific light on or off can be possible. Becomes more difficult when you're trying to do it through home assistant or some other third party smart home device. So be prepared to do a lot of tinkering if you're not connecting it directly too and Aqara hub. I cannot offer opinion how it works if you connect it to an official hubb by the same company, as I don't own one.

This presence sensor works very well and is very accurate. You can add it to Home Assistant, but there is a trick. You need to use an iPhone to add it via Apple Homekit, not Matter. This is the only way to get it connected into the Home Assistant integrations. Install the Aqara app on the iPhone and when it asks to set it up, select "bind to Apple Home (homekit). Then go to Home Assistant and add the Homekit integration and it'll see the Aqara FP2 automatically. Once it's bound in Home Assistant to the Homekit integration, go back to the Aqara app and finish the setup with zones and all the other details. I've been very happy with it so far and it's been able to detect people in the room and turn off the lights when everyone has left.

First off, the fall and sleep detection are distinct modes and require the device be attached to the ceiling, so be aware you can't get all three capabilities with one device. Me, I tried forever to get it to bind to the Aqara home app, and eventually gave up. I put the network on 2.5 ghz, I turned off my phone data and all the things. It would get established to the network, but would fail to bind, tried about 20 times. I would pass on this item.

Easily one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I’ve already installed two of them and they enable automations that aren’t possible with standard motion sensors. They are compatible with HomeKit and super easy to set up and configure. Because of zones I’ve set up mine to handle multiple automations. They have excellent WiFi connectivity, people with issues should consider optimizing their WiFi for IoT devices and ensuring they have whole home coverage using wired APs (not mesh or extenders)—this is basic networking practices, especially for automated smart homes. If I had one complaint, it’s that you have to use the included cable. This cable is very short and isn’t a flat cable, not ideal for wall mounting. Also, you may notice it detects “ghosts” from time-to-time, this is normal behavior due to the way the tech works. Try marking reflective surfaces or other issues as “interference” in the app.

I have tried third reality, fp300 and those had many issues… these things are the real deal. Multizone, multi person, doesn’t detect my pets, true presence detection that I can trust

Setup is a pain. Reading the failure fine print helped. I turned off my router. I set up another router which allowed me to run 2.4GHz only. The FP2 connected. I switched back to the good router and it worked. Aqara should include that instruction in the manual. I have several 2.4GHz only devices and not one has ever required turning off 5GHz in order to connect. Aqara should correct the firmware. Aqara claims that the FP2 works with Alexa. This is only partially true. The presence sensor shows up in the Alexa app as a motion sensor. Hence the bad revues on Redit and elsewhere. In fact, it does work as a presence sensor in the Alexa app. Aqara needs to correct the Alexa skill verbiage. Note the light sensor does not work in the Alexa app. Smart home reviewers claim the FP2 setup and routines are so powerful, yet none are available without the Aqara hob and other Aqara devices. This is misleading advice. Aqara has supplied the devices to these reviewers and so has some control over content. Aqara needs to correct these errors. I have read that the FP2 will be Matter certified. I hope this is true and that I can look forward to improved operation without Alexa adding inconsistent delays as a go between. Direct local operation between the FP2 and Homey Pro controller is my dream. I hope Aqara will make it a reality. In the meantime, the FP2 is useful enough I now have 2.

Pretty good product. Runs great in the Aqara ecosystem, but I've had a little bit of problems using it in Home Assistant. Nothing terrible, just quirky sometimes. Aqara support could be better. Overall would probably recommend.

After extensive testing over the last two weeks across multiple rooms, placements, and activities: Pros: - Accuracy is better than that of a SwitchBot mmWave Presence Sensor. - The ability to map out zones in the app is a plus. - Does not require an additional device or hub to connect to Home Assistant. - Exposes multiple zones in Home Assistant, enabling automations for activities such as sleeping in bed or sitting in a chair while working. - My SwitchBot sensor fails to detect small kids, whereas this one can. - Brightness values are exposed in lumens, compared with SwitchBot, which grades them on a scale of 1–20. - If you can get the placement right, this is the most accurate and reliable sensor available—even better than the FP300. Cons: - Wired only. - The sensor gets slightly warm. - Around 5% false positives: when kids suddenly enter and exit a room while someone is inside, it sometimes triggers a presence-clear event even though the room is not empty. - You will have to test multiple placements if you want to monitor presence while sleeping. - Reinstalling the device can be difficult. - The SwitchBot device is wireless. - Pricey at around ₹10,000. SwitchBot is priced under ₹5,000. - No official warranty support in India. Note: If detection of kids or sleeping is not required, go for the SwitchBot mmWave Presence Sensor. It offers similar performance, minus the false misses while sleeping. The standard FP2 (without the bracket set) comes with everything you need to mount it: 3M tape, two magnetic disks, screws, and sleeves. Buy the bracket kit only if you need it. I have ordered a second one for my kids’ room, albeit without the bracket.

Ce capteur de présence détecte également la luminosité, ce qui en fait un parfait accessoires pour gérer de façon totalement automatique, l'éclairage d'une pièce. Il est capable de détecter plusieurs personnes dans son champ de détection de presque 50m2 et de les positionner assez précisément sur la carte de façon a déclencher des automatisations dans des situations précises. Ce qui en fait un capteur très nettement plus avancé qu'un simple détecteur de mouvements. Sans que cette fonction ne soit cumulable avec la détection de personnes, il peut aussi faire office de détecteur de chute. Dans ce cas l'installation est un peu différente, je n'ai pas pu tester ceci. Compatible avec HomeKit, il permet de gérer une bonne partie de ma domotique en ajoutant une donnée cruciale : la présence ou non de quelqu'un.

Der Aqara FP2 beeindruckt mit einer beeindruckenden Liste an Features und einem entsprechenden Preis - und er liefert! Die Installation ist naturgemäß etwas aufwendiger als bei einem gewöhnlichen Präsenzsensor. Sorgfältige Wahl des Montageorts und der Ausrichtung sind ein muss. Die Erstinstallation und Konfiguration über die Aqara App funktioniert recht problemlos ebenso wie die Einrichtung von Zonen. Man sollte sich aber wirklich grosse Mühe mit der Kalibrierung geben, auch die exakt wagerechte Ausrichtung des Sensor war bei mir kritisch da schon eine kleine Winkelabweichung einen erheblichen Effekt haben kann. Schlussendlich musste ich also zwiemal durch die Konfiguration aber bin mit dem Erkennungsergebnis absolut zufrieden. Die Einbindung in Home Assistant erfolgt über die HomeKit Einzelgeräteintegration was etwas ungewöhnlich ist aber im Ergebnis ebenfalls problemlos. Alle in der App konfigurierten Zonen werden in Home Assistant angezeigt und können neben der 'Gesamtzone' verwendet werden. Ich verwende ihn jetzt eine Weile für ein grosses Küche/Wohn/Esszimmer mit mehreren Zonen und einer Erkennungsreichweite von 7m (was gerade noch innerhalb der Spezifikation des Sensors liegt) und bin sehr begeistert von den Möglichkeiten. Bei Bewegung im Raum zwischen den Zonen kann damit in Home Assistant komfortable und automatisch das Licht mit nur einem Sensor im ganzen Raum gesteuert werden. Auch bei einem längeren regungslosen Schläfchen auf dem Sofa erkennt der Sensor zuverlässig die Präsenz.

Firstly, this device is Home Assistant & Alexa friendly without an Aqara hub. Secondly and very importantly, this is a presence sensor, NOT a motion detector! It detects a human body in a room. This means you can use it to keep a light on whilst you are in the room, even if there is little to no movement. It detects presence, distance [from the sensor] and light level in lux which can be shown within in HA. In the Aqara app you can see motion detection and light level and distance on a grid. Within Amazon Alexa you can see presence only [detected or not]. No light level or distance. I've set this up to turn on a light if it detects presence using HA. It works very well. It is almost instant. It isn't cheap, but if you want presence [not motion] to be detected, this is fantastic. Obviously this costs a lot more than a mere motion detector as there is more "brains" going on. Would I buy it again? Yes. Would I recommend it? Yes, if presence detection is what you need.
