Donner Wireless Guitar Transmitter Receiver，UHF Wireless Guitar System，<2.5ms Latency & 6 Hours Battery Life，Rechargeable Digital Guitar Bass Audio > 100 Feet Range DWS-3

I've begun to work with the new Donner DWS-3 wireless system. Here are my impressions and experiences thus far. For the sake of openness I need to state that I was given this system by Donner to review for them. Since being given gear to review is cool there is a certain pressure to make the review a good one. But being aware of this I determined beforehand to be totally frank and honest in my review. And to my joy the new DWS-3 is making that easy. It really is a superb system -- pretty much flawless from what I am experiencing -- and in a couple of ways a step up from the earlier (and itself excellent) DWS-2. The DWS-2 uses a removable rechargeable battery which is said to last 2 1/2 hours in use from a full charge. That unit comes with a 2nd set of batteries (one each for the send and the recieve unit) which can be charged in advance with the unit's built in USB-plugged charging system and then held aside for use if the first set gets weak. The DWS-3's batteries are fixed in the unit, but are said to last more than twice as long -- 6 hours. I found the time expectation pretty well met with the older DWS-2. The DWS-3 was charged fully last evening and has been in continuous use now for several hours this morning. So far they show no signs of flagging. But gig worthy I already know them to be, at least charge-wise. Getting that additional running time requires a larger internal battery, but Donner designed the units so the added bulk is not an issue. In fact, although larger than the older model, their design is in some applications less intrusive. I have included a photo with a side by side comparison of the two send units out of the guitar. (Both the send and receive units of both systems are the same size and shape) Notice that both allow for the male jack to rotate, and both have that jack extended out a bit from the body of the sender or receiver. The "why" of that is simple: Donner wanted the units to work with pretty much any instrument -- and some, such as the Stratocaster, require that additional extension so the send unit will not interfere with fully seating the jack into the guitar. (Some cable makers have failed to take this into consideration much to Strat players frustration!) I have also posted a photo of each model in place on a Strat.. One can see in that photo that the newer DWS-3 is larger. But despite that fits well and in fact works even better in the Strat -- staying well clear of the controls. Also I have posted a photo of both units in a Jazzmaster. In this case the shape of the DWS-3 is less advantageous, but still its bulk is no problem. I also tried the system in other guitars, including a Gibson ES with no issues as to size or shape. The new DWS-3, like the earlier DWS-2, has four available channels. This allows multiple systems to operate in the same space without interference. It also allows for various mixes and matches -- one instrument running multiple amplifiers. or for more than one instrument to share an amp input. I was most pleased to find that the newer DWS-3 uses that same frequencies for each of its four channels as did the older DWS-2 system. This allows for full integration of the two systems. A true boon for those of us who invested in the earlier model! Playing in my 2nd floor music room I had absolutely no drop outs or connection issues, even when I walked about the rather large room. More amazing was how far I could wander beyond that room. Across into the theater. Down stairs into a bedroom beneath, through the pantry and rather deep into the large kitchen. -This required the signal to go through a floor and several walls. So impressed was I with this that I decided to take my guitar outside and see how far I could wander before losing a signal. I think I was maybe 25 feet from the house before that occured (far enough away that I only knew it because my wife,tapped loudly on the glass to tell me so. I was out of earshot! That, btw, was so in several directions -- and with the amplifier/receiver up on the 2nd floor! Buildings with steel reinforced concrete construction likely would not allow for quite a range. But in a wood frame structure the walls pretty much disappeared. The sound was basically flawless. As good as one would get with a high-quality cable. (Likely better than that had with a not so good cable -- or one with greater than typical length) There was no descernable high-frequency drop-off and no distortion of the signal whatever Apart from the battery life (which is STILL going strong!) I have little more to say. Donner's new system is a true winner. As is, from my experience, the company that produces them. Rock on Donner!

I bought this as an upgrade to the cheaper Getaria wireless system (cheap plastic which broke after a couple of months). Upon first plug in, it took a while for the transmitter and received to pair. After that initial pairing, things worked great for 30 mins or so. Next day, started getting cut outs after about 10 seconds, after which the units pretty much refused to pair. Tried all channels, of course recharged the units. Now returning the units and hoping it is just a bad batch I got, because the sound when it worked was great, as was the range. Will update when new units are received. UPDATE // JUNE 2020 So I finally received my replacement, and it is working pretty much perfectly. Range and sound are great, and battery life is good. No complaints, aside from the obvious quality control issues.

I’ve been scouring various sites looking for a wireless guitar system with two criteria in mind: 1) must be affordable. I didn’t want bottom of the barrel but I also don’t need the best. I’m in a local cover band so I’m not too concerned about top of the line. 2) I wanted it to be reasonably reliable in terms of sound quality and consistency of the connection. I am happy to say it lived up to those expectations! It comes with a receiver (plugged into amp), a transmitter (plugged into guitar), 1 usb charging cable, and a basic manual. It was nicely packaged and the quality of the parts themselves were adequate (especially when compared to some of the cheap crap I’ve bought over the years). After charging each unit individually (about an hour for each unit) I plugged into the amp. First impression was that it was easy - plug in, turn on power, play! You do have the option of changing channels which I may have to do some day because we use a lot of wireless gear. I have a very large, industrial sized, detached garage and i could go anywhere in the garage with no dropouts, latency or change in the quality of the sound. At one point I did walk outside of the garage and that was the only time I noticed either static or disruption of the signal but I think that’s to be expected for any wireless signal traveling through walls over a greater distance. I then plugged my regular cable in just to compare the sound and I honestly noticed no difference at all. I can’t speak to battery life because I haven’t used them that long but they are supposed to last up to 6 hours and my gigs are usually about 4 hours so I should be fine. I can honestly sat I won’t go back to a cord. So, here’s the good and the bad: Pros: 1) reliable wireless connection over a substantial distance 2) no latency 3) equal sound quality to cable connection 4) easy setup and use 5) rechargeable batteries 6) multiple channels 7) good quality build Cons: 1) only one charging cable for two units 2) iffy connection through walls

I tried a blindfold test with this and couldn't tell the difference between the wireless or the cord.. No noise, no dropouts, no loss of volume no problems. It sync'd instantly and comes on and sync's up perfectly. So far after 2 hours they are perfect, zero issues. I tried plugging the receiver in various amps, pedalboards and connections and it works great. No issues. I'm in a WiFi intensive home in a WiFi intensive area and had zero issues to about 60 feet with 1 wall in between. I have 2, 2.4Ghz wireless camera systems at the front of my house so they affect it when you get next to them (about 50' away from the RX). A lot of factors begin to affect the performance depending on your environment as you get longer distance. For a small gig or home use, this is absolutely perfect and so is the price. Nice and sturdy although I can hear the 2 buttons rattle if I shake the TX and RX hard next to my ear. Normal use should not be an issue and a little shoe goo would work fine if you want. They claim 6 hours of battery and as long as it is double the old DWS02 of 2 hours, this will be perfect for the price. If I experience any issues with the battery or if they last less than 4 hours, I'll do an update. Otherwise this is a done deal. It even works with Amp selectors....There was no difference no matter where I plugged in the RX. There was no difference in TX orientation either.

The unit looks and sounds great but is not reliable. The signal keeps cutting in and out. Attempted to test the signal on every channel. Same issue. Shame, I like the unit but it is not useable for me. I have several other wireless systems and none of them have signal drop issues like this one.

For quite some time I'd been considering "cutting the cord", as I've played with bigger groups on smaller stages - and one less thing for me (or others) to trip over is always a good thing. Stage clutter = enemy. Biggest priorities were 1) fidelity - I won't sacrifice sound quality for convenience, and 2) range - I don't want to have to face 37 degrees northwest at all times and not move in order to keep the signal. So I got this and put it through my tests. Testing sound - WOW - first let me say I have a discerning ear, and I play a discerning (high-end) Ken Smith bass, so any degradation in the sound quality will come through loud and (not) clear. IT...SOUNDS...LIKE...A...CORD!!! If I'm really really trying and put my ear up to the speaker, I can try and convince myself I **occasionally** hear a very faint "digitizing" of the tone when I play chords, similar to how a high-end digital pedal (like my Line 6 HX Stomp) sounds. But it's so close it may be in my head - and it certainly wouldn't be something anyone out in the audience could pick up on. To my surprise, it even handles the deeeeeeeep legendary low B string on my Smith with authenticity and authority! Really impressive Testing the range - when I remain in line-of-sight (no obstructions), it rings clear and true even after some distance. It's only when there's a partial wall, doorframe or something preventing a clear path that things start to glitch out a little. But that's not surprising, I expected needing clear line of sight. On stage - no walls, no doors, no problem. Form factor - I love how it swivels and "folds up" to be flush against your instrument, so it doesn't look like there's some weird appendage sticking out. Also really light, no way this is gonna fall out. Only dislike? The finish is shiny "chrome" (plastic) that gets fingerprints on it if you just look at it. Oh well, bring a little cloth, and remember it's there for function, not fashion. BONUS - I didn't know about this feature, but if you hold down the "channel" button for 3 seconds, it gives your instrument a high-quality 5db boost, just like a good boost pedal would. SWEET! Bottom line: The ones that cost $300-500 or more may or may not give you 1% better sound and range, don't know/don't care to find out. Is this a good value at $100? OH, YEAH... This one's a keeper!

I think this is a good system for a home studio type setup. For the money, it has very good sound quality. I have used it with a Fender strat, an acoustic/electric Seagull, a Kala UBass, a Fender Precision Bass and an tenor ukulele/electric. Works great with all of them.....passive and active pickups. No noticeable latency and very easy to set up. The build quality isn't as good as some of the higher end systems, so I am not sure of it's durability or stage range. I might want to look into higher end systems if it were going to be part of my touring gear but it works great for my use around the house. I have no problems whatsoever with the range, roaming from room to room, no cutouts or delay at all and it serves me perfectly while I am in my home recording studio. I also have a Line 6 Relay G10 but for home, it's more convenient to use the Donner DWS-3T because it requires one less electrical socket than the Line 6 system. Just plug the transmitter into the amp and the receiver into your guitar and sync them to the same channel and you are good to go. Less setup and clutter than the higher end stuff. Very easy to use with surprising good sound quality in a studio setting. One disappointment is that both the transmitter and receiver need to be charged separately, takes a couple of hours to charge each one and unfortunately they only provide one USB charging cable so you if you don't have a spare cable around, you most likely would want to order an additional charging cable so you can charge both units at the same time. So far, both the transmitter and receiver have been holding their charge for around 5 hours, after that I start to notice some small cutouts. All in all, other than needing one more charging cable, I would say, especially for around the house, this a great value in this price range.

As an aging, professional live sound engineer, I am always looking for ways to simplify my job. Especially during large sound reinforcement events, in gyms, outdoors, or in large venues. I use a pair of these to send signal to powered speakers, from my sound board / mixer. I use one pair programmed at channel one, for the left, and another pair programmed at channel two, for the right. (When I employ a 5.1 Dolby mix from my sub-mix outs, I employ all 4 channels, respectively) I have tested the usable range of these devices to be as far as 115 feet, line-of-site, from device to device, before any drop-outs in audio begin. I make sure that they are positioned high up on the powered speaker, (With Velcro), and have them plugged into AC, to keep them from wearing out their charge, during all day events. Works great, and is almost fool proof. Great for DJ applications and or some live sound applications. I'm going to attempt to try a true wireless situation, with a Band, by employing these for my FOH mix, (Left & right mains, and left & right subwoofers), wireless mics for each vocal and instrumentation, and not employing any type of audio snake. If it works, I'll have no need to bring a bulky 32x6 channel 100 foot snake, to large venue gigs anymore. If it does this good with sound at 100 feet, it should be cake for a guitar or base, at 25 feet, on the same stage. No worries. I highly recommend this Donner version, because it employs the UHF Band. Most other brands and less expensive versions employ 2.5 GHZ band, which in most cases is saturated and full of interference. The previous versions of these, the DWS-1 and the DWS-2, were plagued by this issue, due to it's 2.5 GHZ operation. So, they went UHF. Employing these will make sound reinforcement set-ups much more easier and simpler. Good luck.

Like I said it works with Active Pickups which I have on both of my guitars so I was worried of noise or not working etc because lots of other guitar tx/rx do not work with Active Pickups. These are so clear I can't tell the difference and there's no noise because of my EMG's. I 'm trying to build my own amateur studio to record my songs and this on of the first things I bought because i Had no idea these small wireless guitar things existed they use to be huge when I had one 20 years ago. SO wanted to try this out first and wow it is so good and the distance I go I noticed is about 10 feet though for me it's not a big problem but then again I haven't tried in a place thats open and large and I don't think I plan too. It's just perfect for me and for when I need record it will be great, sing and play guitar at the same time so where I have my mic in my small apt is far from the amp but I plan to use a COSM device going into my mixer then going into my interface for recording so no problems. I Love it, so cool.

So far this thing is working great I've used it for three live gigs. The only reason no five stars is occasionally it would cut out at home but so far not during a live gig. Battery life is great. Sound quality is great. No detectable latency. Great unit for the money.

I was not sure what to expect from going wireless for my guitars, but wanted the freedom from being wired and tripping over cables. I got these units and must say I am very impressed. I have several products from Donner and once again they knocked it out of the park! What I like: - Excellent range - I tried it 25-30 feet away through walls and did not miss a beat. - Excellent battery life (6hrs) - you get several hours out of one charge. Recharging is quick and easy! - I don't experience any tone loss or signal latency - to my ears it sounds just as good without the cable. - Build quality is very good. They are light, but very well constructed and not bulky - They fit all of my 7 of my Electrics Guitars / Bass Guitar / Acoustic Electric Guitar except one Ibanez SA 260FM. - Connectivity is quick, adjustable and the +5 DB boost is a nice feature. - The fact that they are literally plug and play is great and connectivity is instant and the signals are snappy and active. - Donner always answers my questions and has great customer service - I can always purchase with confidence as they stand behind their products - I tried these with my e-drums and Keyboards.....both also worked well ! so very versatile! - Comes with a very nice storage case to keep everything together and charging cable. - Very well packaged and professionally presented. What I did not like: - not much to say on this, other than it did not fit my one guitar but on all of the others (Ir Strats, Teles, Les Pauls, ect - Could not find anything that I did not like about these as very pleased with this purchase. Would I recommend?: - 100%....though I dont have anything to compare them to, I could not find any reasons why these would not be a great solution for someone wishing to go wireless

The DWS-3 has a very clean sound with no detectable latency. A little big when used with my Fender Nohea ukulele but not really problematic. (If they eventually made it smaller, I would purchase it again.) I did notice dropouts as described by some users but by repositioning the Schatten LP-15 piezo pickup, this issue disappeared. The dropouts were most likely being caused by overdriving the transmitter. The only thing I would prefer is that they move the buttons to the top near the LED display. I find the side buttons awkward to deal with at times. On the whole, I would strongly recommend the DWS-3. Update, June 6: I had the opportunity to test the DWS-3 on a high quality Laughlin guitar with a Fishman Loudbox Mini and the sound was spectacular. My luthier gave me his "thumbs up"!

I bought this model and a cheaper one from Amazon a few months ago. This one glitched a few times as if the battery was fully drained but was just charged. The other one never glitched and cost less than half the price. Thanks to amazon for its amazing return policy! Grab the cheaper models ;)
