This is a well built, sturdy detector that comes in a hard case. It is very easy to use although it would help if the bats would slow down when they zoom past you! You almost need two if you have bats around you that are in the high and the low decibel range. You do have to learn your bat sounds, but there are only 17 of them and probably less in your area, then there are the social calls. This is a good detector to start with and if you get hooked you can move onto more sophisticated models.

I bought the bat detector as a birthday present for my partner and was a bit sceptical about whether it would work, but it's absolutely awesome and easy to useIt comes with very detailed instructions and we were able to start tracking bats in our garden - and identifying the species - even when we couldn't see them. The accompanying field guide to bats was very high quality and a good complement to the detector.

easy to use and info with it is all you need to get started , for novice to well everyone you can hear your foxy flying friend heading your way, before you see them, have heard and seen bats in our garden and away on 3 road trips..

After reading alot of reviews and being quite surprised and looking sadly at my wallet I decided on this item.first night tried it I was sad and disappointed due to not hearing any bat noises or seeing any.But on the third night as I was scanning by turning the frequency wheel, which moves very easy but also precise, I got a bat noise!!!The bat detector comes with a frequency guide giving info on what bats use certain frequency's.As you can imagine I was quite excited as I have only heard and seen such things watching spring-watch and David Attenborough.I would advise a good book as I have now found out some bats use similar frequencies but with the aid of this detector which not only gave me a chance to hear the bats but also helped me locate where it was so i could see its behavior, giving me a bit more chance of correct identification.As a beginner its helped me a great deal and already giving me enjoyment. even the torch built into the detector helped me watch a spider spin its web after i had finished observing and listening to the bats.*One word of warning* my neighbors are looking at me weirdly now since buying this item as all they see is me outside pointing this little black box in the air and turning around and around then doing a little excited dance every now and then!

Great Purchase.The Seller sent it out very quick. Received it in a few days.Tried it out that night. Very simple to work, just set to about 45khz and you are away. Picks up bats at around 25-50m distant. I don't think it would be worth spending the extra on the unit with LED frequency display.The case is made for this detector as it fits perfect. Pouch in case to keep spare battery, probably not needed as battery lasts for ages, but you can keep the bat frequency list that comes with the detector in the case.

An excellent bit of kit. Gives you a little look into the world of bats, great for educational walks with kids. The pouch is handy, stops it clanking around in your bag and getting damaged etc. A good buy, well worth the money

Brought as a birthday present for the wife.It was taken to Guide camp and was great at picking up the bats’ ‘clicks’ as they flew towards the girls.Also used up in the Lake District to detect the bats that were about.It can be tuned into different frequencies used by different bats an so can identify them.

Does what it says. Should be useful when the little blighters wake up after winter
