From out of the past
Second volume in the series of paperbacks which collect issues of the comic 'Deadly Class'. The story of Marcus, a teenager in 1988 who joins a school dedicated to training people in the art of killing. This collects issues 7-11 of the comic. As with volume one, it contains a lot of violence and strong language and adult situations. So it's strictly for mature readers. This isn't a jumping on point, though. So new readers should start with volume one. Those who have read that, read on.Life should now be going great for Marcus. He has the school. Friends. A girlfriend. And a part time job. But after being miserable for so long, being happy is hard. Added to which, Maria's mood swings are straining their relationship. And the old acquaintance we met at the end of volume one is still out there.Everything is going to come to a head....This is more than just an incredibly solid second volume, because in additioning to moving things along nicely it does do so much else that will really stick in the mind. It's an uncompromising and very realistic look at mental health issues. There's a superbly depicted love triangle. And stunning plot developments, in that the past issue hinted at in volume one, which got Marcus his place in the school, is finally revealed. It's not something you will forget in a hurry. This then brings all it's plot strands together masterfully for a stunning issue that takes your breath away. It's very violent, but it realistic and horrifying rather than gratuitious, as such things should be. Much remains to be resolved as a result, because of how it leaves the characters. But then there's a cliffhanger to contend with as well...A superb second volume of an excellent series. A great read. Although it will make you cautious about eating certain things. The volume ends with a gallery of covers of the individual comic issues.

in a deadly class of it's own
Deadly class reminds me of when I was at school. I felt like a nobody, almost like an outcast and spent most of my days accompanied by a negative voice inside of my head. Eventually I made some friends, confidence was slightly boosted and my brain was Pre occupied with doing stuff than over thinking stuff. This book takes me back to my youth and really touches on issues like what I experienced. Everything I have mentioned so far, please keep that in mind and then think of an assassin school and this is were it becomes even more interesting. Deadly class is one image's finest comics right now. It has a lot of heart, gets under your skin, it's raw at times, it's fun at times, in other words just pick it up. P.s the artwork is amazing, the artist has such a unique style, it is seriously awesome. Don't take my word for it, check it out for yourself.

A bit of a downer
While Deadly Class is a great series, this dark second arc is definitely a downer. It lacks the thrill of discovery we had reading the introductory story and ends on an irritating cliff hanger.

My new favourite comic series :)
I purchased the first volume a while ago and was blown away by it. Just finished volume 2 and I'm blown away again :) it's a dark, funny, twisted, gripping story that's very well written. The artwork is simply beautiful. Can't wait for volume 3!
