Love peanuts in the shell
There is something about cracking peanuts in the shell and eating them. Freshness is great. Value for the money, wish it was less expensive. Salt content, not overly salty. Great for a simple snack. Great color, good taste. Softness, umbrella, no. Crunchy and fresh.

fresh and tasty, with great customer service
Very reliable Seller, with fast shipping. The peanuts were fresh and tasty, as Hoody's have always been. We are disappointed that we cannot find them in the local stores anymore, but are happy we found this Seller!

Biggest bag of peanuts I ever have
My first bag was wonderful it was mediums and large not many broken pieces at all My second bag was mostly mediums and mostly loaded with smalls one peanut size also many broken pieces disappointed with the second batch I have so many I only eat a little bit each time with my Martinis but the salt is wonderful so if you're thinking about peanuts in the shell give it a try but my expectations were much bigger on my second batch as I said the first batch was marvelous mostly larges and if you mediums. Maybe as I get through the bag it might change you never know Happy peanut

Bad Taste
Received peanuts, packaging looks ok and it is within "best by date", but tried quite a few and the taste was just not right. Don't know whats wrong with them but not going to take a chance. Unfortunately when I tried to return I received a note from Amazon saying that they are not eligible for return. Reviewed original order and couldn't find that little note anywhere. Are all food items non-refundable? $20 is a lot to not get a credit. Certainly will not order and food items from Amazon in the future.

Decent value for price
Having purchased 2 5lb. bags of Hoody's roast peanuts, I've made the following observations. They do have great flavor and deliver good value for money spent and in my opinion, do pretty well in living up to their packaging claim of being salted to perfection. Where things go south is in the physical condition department. Not wanting to criticize unfairly, I went on line to the USDA site and did a bit of research on peanut grading. I discovered that unlike shelled peanuts, which have a whole plethora of grading levels, roasted, in-shell peanuts only have two, fancy and jumbo. USDA says Fancy grade, which is what Hoody's claim to be, will be comprised of a maximum 11% of peanuts with cracked or empty shell hulls, .5% trash and debris and 4.5% loose or damaged peanut kernels found in any given volume of product. Additionally it states that a maximum of 5% of the peanuts sampled will pass through a screen mesh sized 3" x 1/2", thereby limiting the volume of tiny peanuts. It also states that the maximum count of peanuts per pound will be 225, again to insure consistency in size. While the first bag of the two I bought may have marginally made the grade, the second bag failed miserably with at least 40% of the shells cracked, broken or missing half their contents and a much higher concentration of trash and loose peanuts. Bottom line, good flavor, shoddy presentation and don't meet USDA guidelines for grading. The jumbo grade allows a maximum of 10% damaged shells, maximum count of 176 peanuts per pound and a maximum of 3.5% in loose kernels. Based on this experience, I have now ordered a 25 lb. bag of salted jumbo grade roasted peanuts from Whitley's. In this quantity they're priced approximately 40 cents per pound more than Hoody's but hopefully will be worth it in time saved culling.
