Genuine OEM Ford Trans Cooler Line
I installed this on my 2012 F150 3.5L Ecoboost FX2 Supercrew without any fitment issues. I lined up the original part with this new part and everything matched in shape, length, diameter, and quality. It had the blue & white ford part no. label and the smaller gray label that was present on my original part.I will say that my only disappointment is that the part was shipped as a loose item with bubble wrap around two locations along the length of the assembly. The transmission connection end had a plastic cap to seal the lines, but the flexible trans cooler end was not sealed. It had some cling wrap to secure the loose hose ends. I was expecting the part to ship in a box or a parts bag with more bubble wrap and line caps/plugs on both ends, but thankfully the part arrived undamaged with no debris in the lines. For removal of the original line, first remove the gray retaining clips from the quick disconnects on the flexible end of the lines. I used an OEM Tools brand trans cooler line removal tool that I picked up at my local Autozone. It worked flawlessly to remove the factory lines. Simply clamp the appropriately sized end of the tool around the hardline against the top of the quick connect fittings on the trans cooler line. Push the rubber hose with the quick connect fitting up while holding the tool firmly in place, and then pull down with a twisting motion. If it does not pull freely, then try adjusting the tool closer to the fitting and pushing up further. You may feel a gentle click when the quick connect releases, then pull down on the fitting with a mild twisting motion again.Routing the lines for removal requires you to rotate the assembly as you pull it out towards the rear to clear a lot of obstructions. Drain fluid from each end of the lines as much as possible before removal. As you remove the lines more fluid will drain from the aft end of the lines.I recommend that you tape a ziplock bag or cling wrap around the flexible hose ends to keep debris out of the lines as you rotate and feed the new lines in from the rear through the same route as the original lines came out from. Install the forward two mounting bolts loosely before connecting the lines to the cooler and the transmission.Connect the transmission end of the lines first making sure to install this end as stait and flush as possible to avoid damaging the o-ring seals. These o-rings should have lubricant already appied. Install the aft bolt at the transmission and use Blue Loctite on the bolt (Note: before installation, clean the old blue loctite off the bolt threads with a wire brush or wire wheel before applying fresh loctite along the length of the threads.) Torque this aft bolt to spec, then connect the flexible hose ends to their respective hardlines at the cooler... lubricate the internal quick connect o-rings with transmission fluid if they are dry (mine were). Simply push the quick connect fittings strait up onto the hardlines until you feel a mild click. While holding the hardline with one hand, pull down on the quick connect fitting to make sure it doesn't disconnect from the hardline.Reinstall the gray retaining clips onto the quick disconnects and the hardlines. Making sure that none of the trans cooler lines are rubbing on eachother or on nearby parts, torque the remaining two forward mounting bolts to spec. Check trans fluid level and top off or change the fluid as necessary. Recheck the fluid level and all sealing surfaces for the drain pan and the trans cooler lines before and after getting the transmission up to operating temp 175+ degrees F.
