Overboard

I adore Goldie Hawn and Kirk Russell's Overboard, been my favorite movie for years so I was probably as apprehensive about watching another Overboard as were the people who made it. But I gotta say this one is better for a number of reasons. The Latino culture aspect of it is superb. The streamed version stopped having the Spanish to English subtitles so I purchased the DVD and was elated to find that it does have those subtitles. Leo's co-workers are hilarious and very believable. The Spanish soap operas at the pizza place was excellent. The marriage proposal in this Overboard is so moving and adorable. The friend's reaction to it is a show stopper. The ways everything came together.....the reason the children don't look like him, the reason they sleep separately, explaining the condoms in the glove box, the ownership of the yacht.....just so many things that produced a really enjoyable movie. We watch it over and over. I don't know if anyone noticed or cared, but in the first Overboard she's in the position of committing adultery; even though it's unwitting on her part, Dean knows she's married.

Movie just as funny as the orginal

This movie was well done. I am a big fan of the original so I wasn't sure it would measure up - but it did. They did everything right, such as reversed the rolls; had the right actors for all the parts so it was similar yet fresh. I have enjoyed it over and over!

Not as good as the original, but worth watching.

Kurt Russel and Goldie Hawn were great in the original film 'Overboard' 1987 and Eugenio Derbez and Anna Farris are equally talented in the 'Overboard' 2018. Two films and two stories could so differently be the same.

Love the original with Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell but this now is a favorite too! Single mom is working with hard with no Goodluck. She gets fired by a jerk who loses his memory so she takes revenge by saying they are married & let's him work for her to make up for it. No one expects he'll come to love his new family or they him in the process! If you like to laugh, this is a winner. Brand new from seller.

We loved this movie - and especially loved the happy ending.

This is a review of the blu-ray “Overboard” starring Anna Faris, Eugenio Derbez, Eva Longoria, Swoosie Kurtz, and Emily Maddison. This has to be stated because I am sure Amazon will apply it to both versions. (They haven't 26/03/23, massive surprise!) Goldie Hawn doesn't like this film. Much as it pains me to say so, I cannot agree with her. Goldie quite naturally feels that the original, in which she starred with Kurt Russell, is sufficient unto itself, iconic, and neither needs nor requires a re-make. If this were a simple direct re-make she would be quite right, and I, an adoring fan of hers for 55 years, would be the first to agree with her. But, of course, this is not a simple re-make. It is a reinterpretation, and a direct and deliberate homage to the original, which is referenced many times in the film. Besides the roles of sexes being reversed there are many other changes made to the story to accommodate the differences necessitated. These I find to be witty and ingenious. I do not mention them for obvious reasons. The film is strong enough to stand on its own, but I am sure that it would be more appreciated if the original from 1987 were seen first. If not first, then afterwards would do nearly as well. Oh, very well, I am trying to get you to see the original if you have not already done so, or even if you have. The blu-ray version that I bought is region 1 or A, and requires an all region player to play it in the United Kingdom. There is at least one version for sale on Amazon (26/03/23), that appears to originate in Germany, which should play on a region 2 or B in the United Kingdom, and it's cheaper! I haven't seen it yet, so cannot vouch for its quality, but all things being equal, it should be OK. 30/03/23. it is!

Storia poco credibile ma carina, molto simpatica e spasosa!

Je n'ai jamais regardé la version originale de ce film, mais celui-ci est assez drôle ... Je recommande.

Remake di un vecchio film con Kurt Russel. Storia davvero carina e divertente. Insegna che a volte essere parte di una famiglia può essere la cosa più importante che abbiamo.
