Bas Relief & Applique: Advanced Techniques (Sugarcraft Skills Series) Paperback – January 1, 1991

This is a neatly illustrated book on two different but similar techniques using fondant /sugarpaste icing in the European style of cake decorating. the instructions and illustrations are useful and informative. However, many of the designs are a little twee. From the point of view of learning the two techniques described it is very helpful and once mastered can be transfered to other designs of your choice.

There is not a lot of information out there on Bas Relief on cakes, this certainly helped clear up some of my questions.

Great Book!

Beautiful cake designs in this book with a fantastic level of detail - classic English cake designs, and funky younger designs. Bas relief and applique icing is a technique that is not covered well in other cake decorating books so this book is a gread addition to the reference library of the more experienced cake decorator.

Nice little book from the Merehurst collection designed with City & Guilds Sugarcraft courses in mind. Lots of skills and tips for building layers and textures to your designs.But note this is an advanced course book and not aimed at the absolute beginner. This range had distinctive coloured bands to the top and bottom of the books. This one is red for advanced - look out for blue for intermediate and green for basic techniques.

Got this book as part of my college work - to assist in the understanding of cake decorating Bas Relief!Totally love it although a little bit dated, but full of amazing ideas, and well illustrated as usual by Lesley, who really has an eye for detail.Not many designs, but enough information to make even the novice think all things are possibleDefinitely recommend this book.

This is not what I want, but compare to the price, it worth to have it, can get some inspirations from it
