Sony CDP-CX400 400-Disc Mega Changer (Discontinued by Manufacturer)

This unit has since been replaced and is now only available on the secondary market. What a shame! This unit had features which have since been dropped. Some of the later units do not have the features I like. That is why I said, "They should have built this model last," I had three units like this when I decided I wanted more. (Currently I have five units, all daisy chained together. All my CD's are in these units.) I was so desperate to get another "400" that I bought two units on the secondary market through Amazon at different times. I am very happy with them. This enables you to select the CDs of a particular artist only. For reasons unclear to me, every once in a while the gremlins get loose in the unit and it switches most of the artists to the wrong CDs. Not good. To straighten this out takes a lot of work. Maybe I should only rate the unit 4.5.

This was ordered to replace the same model. All worked except the eject function. Amazon Customer Service could not provide return service and offered a satisfactory partial refund.

Item performs well as a CD player for up to 400 CDs. Although the one I bought was used, it works well, and I'm happy with it. The manual was still available online from Sony.com. For newer CDs, this device learns the name of the CD and its tracks automatically. Most of my CDs were bought in the 90s, and those have to have the album name entered manually from a user-supplied keyboard, which takes a while. When one CD has finished playing, the device automatically moves on to the next one. The device can also play CDs or tracks repeatedly, or at random. CDs can be grouped into one of 8 groups for your convenience, such as if you only want to play your classical CDs. It can also keep record of your favorite tracks, and play just those if you want.

Unit did not work. Sent it back for refund.

The CDP-CX400 Mega Disc changer is a well built unit and it gives easy access to my music library. I have a 400 disk player linked to a 200 disk player (my original CD changer). Both players are controlled by the CDP-CX400; the units are set up to alternately play between the two players with no delay. The alternate player loads the next selection while the other unit is playing.

I purchased this product to replace my original just like this one, after taking a whole day to remove my CDS from mine, and install my 300 CDs into this player, it’s doing the EXACT SAME THING!! It’s SKIPPING all over every CD!!! NOW WHAT DO I DO??? DO I RETURN THIS ONE??? Please advise me.......

My adult brother, who is 100% blind, loves burning cds, recording on cassettes, and copying the cassettes he has made. So it was very important to find a stereo like this. After a very unpleasant experience with another seller, we bought these instead and were very happy! Hes able to use it completely and easily exactly how he wants! We couldnt be happier! Thanks so much!

Sony products new do not need a warranty. My current estimate for a complete home-theater system with music only is about $2,500. Here one can go with Amazon since the Sony company does not sell direct!
