Q: Has anyone tried adding butter to this mix? I usually make my crush’s from scratch... afraid of being dissapointed, do you think butter could hurt it?

I wouldn't do it, but I think you should add additional flour if you add butter/shortening. From my own experience, when making more than two pies, I have made a homemade crust recipe with butter and/or shortening, and THEN added this mix before adding the (additional) water. It makes a phenomenal crust for sweet or savory pies, and is less work for my arthritic hands. Twice the crust with 1/2 the hand-work, and no one can tell the difference. I should say that I have never used this mix on its own, but I'm sure it's great!
