Relief printing is based on a reductive process. Each tool profile is used to crease the specific image desired in the material being carved. I'd say these are great for ambitious beginner and above. I feel like I can get professional looking prints with these and I like that it comes with the sharpener. I wish I could find more sizes for it though. Good, adaptable set. I find changing the blades a bit hard, but the handle is comfortable to use and it's a good basic set of very sharp blades.
