Works Great
I knew that being able to take my dog's temperature was important, but in the past, I have often not done so due to the hassle of using the old fashioned, rectal, thermometer. This works great. Very easy to use. My dogs are used to having their ears handled and weren't bothered by the beep at all. I will note that the device is rather large and I don't think it would work well for small dogs. A friend of mine noted that it also has trouble on dogs with very fuzzy ears. I have a mastiff and a lab and had no trouble with either of them. This is a great tool for all dog owners to have in their first aid kit. I was too lazy to find the video I did for upload, but here is a link to the YouTube [...]

Pet thermometer - works great
I bought this to monitor my dog's temperature prior to whelping. It did the trick for me. I like that it turns on quickly and tells you when it's ready to be used. I like that there is one button to push to turn it on and tell it to take a temperature. I really like how fast it takes a reading - literally in a second after putting it in her ear. I like that it immediately readies itself to take a second reading, without losing the first reading. It is a little tricky to aim it right to get an accurate temperature. I would generally take her temperature three or four times, just to be sure I was doing it correctly. Once I figured out the approximate direction to aim, it got easier.

LOVE YOUR PET; make it easy on you both!
I use it for cats and kittens and on people, too. I've done some comparisons to the mercury thermometer, and this is accurate to within 1/10th degree, (or maybe it is totally accurate and my mercury thermometer is off)!In any case, it tells you what you need to know: is there a somewhat high temp, or a worryingly high temp that justifies a visit to the vet or M.D.It's quick as anything, about 1-2 seconds to get a reading. I take 2-3 readings, to allow for not inserting the tip correctly and for wiggling of the patient.Batteries last forever, comes with extra tip covers (and refills are available at major pet supply stores), folds away in its own case. I can't think of a single negative but I do suggest the instructions advise taking the temp twice, just to be accurate. (In a human ear, I am unlikely to insert the tip the "wrong way." But in a cat or dog, if the tip is inadvertently placed against a bit of skin, instead of freely into the ear canal, the reading will be affected.)Love your pets, stop sticking the mercury thermometer up their bums; it doesn't feel any better to them than it would to you!!

Really easy and accurate
Really easy and accurate, since when my dog was running a fever I got a similar reading as my vet using an anal thermometer.one thing I don't think you need to change out the protective "condom" every time, especially if you are doing the readings on the same animal. I took a reading after one had been used a few times, and then swapped it out and got the same reading. It comes with a protective pouch. You cannot change the battery, and another reviewer mentioned it costs about the same as a new one. So lets see how long this lasts. Also I had difficulty using the condom dispenser, the condoms would stick. P.s anyone who read this and laughed, grow up 😃.

Easy on your Pet............
I bought this thermometer to use with our dogs and cats. Works great, much safer than a rectal thermometer and very quick. Makes a beep when you activate it and a beep when it is finished but this has not bothered my dogs or cats.It is supposed to be good for 20,000 temperatures or up to 10 years although it only has a 1 year warranty.***The reason for my 3 star review instead of 5 stars is the battery. The internal lithium battery has an estimated built-in life of 5 years. You have to send the thermometer back to the factory at AMC (Advanced Monitors Corp) for service and for a "nominal fee" at their discretion they will either replace the battery or the thermometer. Not sure it would be worth the postage fees and "nominal fee" which are between $49 and $79 from what I have found in their manual and online.Obviously it would be cheaper to buy a new one but I am hoping that it will last for several years before I have to do that.

No worth the price inaccurate.
Wasn't very accurate tested on horses, dogs, and goats against rectal thermometer. Was off a degree or two each time. So I returned it. I was hoping this would really help when we had a sick animal. Also didn't like that there was no shut off on it it just had to power down. I hope it worked for others.
