The classics never go out of style
I had originally received this book has a birthday present back in the fall of 1979. Over the years, my copy was either damaged or destroyed and discarded by an ex girlfriend. So it was a joy to buy it from Amazon. It's somewhat dated for sure. But too remember the greats growing up made me feel young again. Many like Mentzer, Olivia and of course the Weiders are gone now. But it's great to reminisce.

The only book Weider ever made that was worth making!
I'm certain that not mant folks will be reading this review as this book has been out of circulation for many years now and most young lifters never even knew a book like this exsisted.I was just checking to see if there were any more copies of this book to be gotten when I saw there was one copy on Amazon.com, [...].For many years now I never wasted my precious time reading or even glancing at anything that the Weider brothers publish(this includes their advertisement filled magazines) [...]. After all that I would like to mention that the real reason I am writing is to give a review for this book...[...] Many were men of heavy strength traing...weightlifters who could have cared a rats butt about how many carbs they were eating or how thick their waist was(take George Hackinschmidt for instance).[…] All that said as so no one ever thinks that I would endorse anything put out by the Weider clan the book has some good info and some really great archive photos. My wife bought me this book in the hardbound edition for Christmas in 1979 the year it was written. The main reason I wanted this book was because it had some great pictures and a story on the true champ John C. Grimek (John was a member of our 1936 Olympic Weightlifting Team and a true bedrock of the York Barbell Club). Again Weider had nothing to do with Grimek as he always lifted for the York Barbell Club and had nothing at all to do with the IFBB! My wife paid $20.00 for the book at a book store in Baltimore, that was a good amount of money 30 years ago. Although the book has articles and pictures […]. The book includes great stuff on the real strong men of the Iron Game like Reg Park and Chuck Sipes! Enough said, if you can get a copy of this book at a good price then get it. Me myself would not pay over 25 bucks for a copy...but again - that's just me!"Enjoy" Joe Kopeck of the Original Broadway Barbell Club in Baltimore
