MT-40W METRONOME & TUNER

Excellent metronome and tuner which would be a good buy even if it was twice the price. Easily compares to the far more expensive products by Korg etc. The size is very pocket-friendly and the indicators on the display as well as the button controls are intuitive and provide good feedback. Switching between the tuner/tone-generator and metronome is straightforward too. I found that the tuner was very accurate when directly plugging in my guitar and was serviceable when using the built-in mic although I found that I had to get the device pretty close to the amp/speaker for it to register the frequencies through the mic. The tuner offers fairly granular frequency indication which is good for optimising intonation on guitars with floating bridges. As for the metronome feature, it's actually quite feature rich and offers more than what I'd expect at the price. You get multiple beat and note combinations which are easy to cycle through and select and the oscillating visual indicator along with the 2-colour LEDs that indicate a beat with the green LED and ticks with the two red LEDs re about the maximum visual input that any metronome can give you. The speaker is not the loudest-- probably is just a small piezo tweeter and quite similar to what you'd get on any pocket metronome so don't expect to be able to hear the beeps over a 10w practice amp unless you plug the metronome in with an aux cable. I have used it on occasions with a smaller 5w amp when practicing late at night and with the volume on the amp set at aroudn 30%, I was able to hear the metronome just fine. Battery life is pretty good but I'd highly recommend using alkaline cells or standard zinc cells by a decent brand. The eveready cells died with 3 days and then I switched to duracell that have been going strong since 3 weeks now. Overall, a great device with loads of features and decent build quality and reliability.

Pros : Guitar tuner ok.... Batterry life doing just fine after 6-7 months , have even option for different strum/lead timings and the ability to tune guitar in different majot/flat keys. Cons: should have had a better louder speaker, the manual should be a little richer or better detailed to help use options. But it serves its purpose and any ways I am not a professional musician... It is good!

Really nice for piano practice

I have bass, electric, and acoustic guitars. This one can tune em all perfectly well. Great little device. The metronome, etc, are added bonuses

Don't waste money on things that you can't use often. This is one of things. Better to go with small tuner that can be pivoted on the end of the guitar neck end.

Good built quality I dropped it multiple times yet it works

This tuner is 105×60×15 mm in dimension and cannot be used like a compact clamp-on tuner. Though it comes with a wired piezo pickup clip but you will rarely use it as also does the job perfectly with its built-in mic. You can keep it ON, on a table, away from your instrument and still it would be able to recognise the strings. There is absolutely no worry with its bigger size. The biggest advantage is the adjustable A4: 430-450 Hz. Can tune instruments to a more soothing 432 Hz. Also indicates whether you have to tighten or loosen the strings, and by how much. Something that beginners struggle to understand. Precise and accurate. Tested with standard A4 tone from youtube and also by playing a record of its own generated tone. Good build quality, big LCD screen with backlight, works on two AAA battery, loud tone and metronome generator with volume control, headphone out. Looks like it will last for years if you dont drop it. Clamp-ons generally break apart at the hinge. This is one solid piece. Overall a good deal.
