This case seems like it would do an average job of protecting a very large JBL speaker.When my son tried carrying the speaker on this case using the carrying strap, two of the carrying loops ripped out of the case. Upon examination, it is easy to see why. All four of the metal carrying loops are sew into the edge of the case with only a few stitches of thread. This is clearly a design defect.Because of the heavy weight of the speaker, the carrying loops need to be attached a nylon straps that completely surround and care sewn into the case.I would consider this case for protecting the speaker in checked luggage (as long as it is very well padded) or carry-on luggage. But be VERY WARY of using the carrying strap. It will likely fail, your speaker will fall and potentially suffer damage.
