Piscifun Platte Fly Fishing Reel Large Arbor Fully Sealed Drag with CNC-machined Aluminum Alloy Body 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, 9/10 (Gunmetal,Black,Ice Blue)

I mostly have high end reels from Lamson, Sage, and Galvan. I thought I would give this budget sealed drag reel a try. Positives, it is well put together, the drag works well, I like the oversized knob. The spool release is better than the spool release on lamson and sage, which has to be popped off. The biggest positive is the price, one half to one third the cost of high end reels. Negatives, switching to right hand retrieve was a bit of a pain (you have to take care not to lose two small parts...look on YouTube for instructions). I bought the ice blue color, and the color is super bright and doesn’t have the paint depth found on pricier reels. A different color might look better. I purchased the bright blue because i usually fish with multiple rods and wanted something that was easy to see in the grass. Definitely good for that. Finally, it’s a heavy reel, noticeably heavier than a lamson or a sage. I bought this for a 3 weight rod, so the weight is a little noticeable on such a lightweight rod. Overall, I will probably use my lamson over this, but the lamson cost 3.5 times as much.

I spent about a month researching fly rod/reel options. I am a novice, but I've purchased 3 fly rods and 2 reels in the past. What I bought in the past was entry level stuff, so I was looking for something of a bit better quality but still shy of top-of-the-line equipment. After coming back to this reel multiple times I finally decided I couldn't find a better option for the price.I bought this and a 4 piece fenwick 5WT rod. I used this in the White River in Arkansas for a brutally cold weekend and it was great. The reel is clearly better than my other options and the drag system is something I under appreciated with the cheaper stuff I used. I could cast this easily, and it was very nice to fight some trout on a better quality setup. Overall I am very glad I went with this version--still have no idea how to pronounce the name of it though.

Absolutely love the reel. Tested it out on big tiger muskie in New Mexico and it held up incredibly well. No issues with drag, line capacity, and handling fish. Large arbour spool helps to pick up line quickly and smoothly. Contact the Piscifun customer service for a spare spool if you need one. The spools come off super easy as well, making spool changes a breeze. I highly recommend this reel for anyone looking for a saltwater reel, or just a big predator reel.

I have been flyfishing for 42 years and have always bought the highest quality rods and reels (Tibor, Hardy, Orvis, Sage, Scott, etc). I wanted to get another 3wt and decided on the Moonshine Rod Outcast rod and this reel in a 3wt. TOTALLY impressed! Great action on the rod and beautiful fit, finish and function on this reel. I liked it so much that I ordered this reel in 10wt (but haven't fished it yet). The Piscifun Platte reel may not have the name recognition or status of some of my other reels, but it damn well performs as well as reels that cost me 2-5x as much as this reel cost me.

One caveat, I have not had a chance to fish this reel yet. I have put backing and line on it and have been casting with it, so far it works perfectly.The reel I bought is a 9/10, I put 100 yards of 30lb Micron on it and a nine weight floating RIO line.It's a great looking reel, and is well made.I like the large drag adjustment wheel on the side, easy to use.One issue, after I bought the reel I decided to buy another spool for it, I couldn't find them available on the Amazon or the Piscifun web site.

I was excited to fish with my new Piscifun Platte Fly Reel for the fist time today. What a great real! I contemplated buying a high dollar, “famous”, reel but decided against it after watching some reviews of this one on YouTube. The reviewers raved about every aspect of the Piscifun Platte and now, after fishing one, I whole heartedly concur. The looks, quality and precision of this Piscifun reel are exceptional! I am so glad I made this purchase and saved hundreds. I’m one happy fisherman and I plan to buy more. Piscifun deserves a ton of credit and respect for producing a top notch, “affordable”, fly reel.

The Platte reel appears to be well made. I have not had the opportunity to use it yet. I did spool it up with 100 yards of 30 lb backing and a 100’ Orvis Bankshot 7 wt. sink tip line. It all fit on the arbor with a little exspansion space left. I will use it on a 10’ 7 wt. Orvis fly rod for boat/river tailwater fishing for striper, bass, brown trout and small Muskie. It comes with a neoprene cover which I use on all my reels while traveling in the boat. I just slide the reel in and wrap around rod and secure the Velcro. This keeps all my reels from getting banged up. I really like the large drag adjustment; makes it easy to quickly get your hand on it when needed. Gave it a 4 star simply because I have not tested it in actual use at this time

I have other fishing equipment by Piscifun from a Shoulder Fishing Tackle Bag to line and other reels. All of my purchases have proven to be outstanding values and this reel is no exception. I matched it up with a Fenwick Aetos 8.5 foot fly rod and the balance turned out to be perfect. The great take home feature for this reel is the sealed drag. It is very sensitive and a joy to use. However, the whole reel is smooth as silk. You can spend big $$$ on a reel or you could give this one a try. With Amazon's fast easy return procedure what do you have to loose. Go for it‼️

Feel and quality of the product for a reasonable price .Fully sealed drag system so can be used in saltwater.Drag is nice and quiet.Easy to convert from left to right hand,but watch video before converting,spring could be easily lost.Very pleased so far,time will tell on reliability.

Large arbor, cnc machine reel, awesome drag. If this was a Sage, Hardy, Orvis, Abel, this reel would be 5 to 10 times more expensive. You CAN'T go wrong for this price for this sealed drag system reel. I am so far excited to have this reel. Fished with it and reel feel so good. Looks and feels awesome. After all, fly reel is suppose to just hold your line. But this reel is just luxurious. This is more than entry level for sure! Quick delivery.

Purchased this reel because of all the hype and good reviews. No instructions on how to change left to right hand retrieve in box. Looked it up on you tube. Tiny spring flew out and I had no idea where it went. Called about it but no help. Put it back as best as I could. Not sure it's correct. You get what you pay for but this is not a cheap reel. Buyer beware. Not sold on this reel. Won't be buying another one anytime soon.

Great product , amazing feel from this reel ! The drag is incomparable to other reels of that price from the big reel companies out there . The seal mechanism is a great option for any fly fisherman . I have caught many big fish on this reel and I’m very happy with the overall quality of this reel.

I am about to test this product today on the water.So far, I’m impressed with the feel of it. There’s is definitively a quality feel to it and when I tested casting on grass, I was very pleased on how it responds.
