Wasn't sure this was going to meet my expectations, but have to say that I am extremely happy with this purchase,I went with the dual analog/digital vhf unit,to boost the transmit power of my many ht's to better reach 2 repeaters in my area,one being approx.13miles away,the other about 17mi. I am currently using a Radtel 600,5 watt output radio in the 147Mhz range,and have gotten very impressive output levels from this BTECH amplifier,It bumped my power output to between 55 and 60 watts,and my swr is right around 1.45-1.49,I hope to reduce that with a little work but is well within an exceptable level for now,my signal reports have been good and no complaints on my transmissions,as before I used this amplifier my transmissions were weak and hard to hear at times,much clearer now! I am using a Nagoya UT-72 loading antenna,and a low loss 240 coax from HT to amplifier.I feel that this was a great option for me to turn my HT's into a 50-60watt base station.The unit is well costructed,small in size and very easy to hook up,as for longevity I will have to wait and see,but as or if any issues arise I will post updates, but as of this writing I am very happy and would not hesitate to recommend this amplifier to anyone wanting to boost the output power of their handheld 5w radio. Just be sure you select the right model for your needs,VHF or UHF model,and whether or not you want analog only or analog/digital unit. 73

Not only is this a great amplifier, but the company is stellar as well. I had an issue a few months after use and they took care of me lickity-split, went out of their way to make sure I was completely satisified. This thing transmits and and recieves so clean that Dawn dish soap took notes on its performance. I run this in my truck with an 8 watt motorola handheld with an small magnetic VHF/UHF whip... I'm hitting repeaters 50 miles away, and having great reception with operators 70+ miles away on VHF through those repeaters. (Provided I don't live in the Rocky Mountains and LOS is decent, your mileage may vary) My main recommendation is go ahead and pickup a heavy-duty SMA cable to connect between amplifier and your handheld. It does come with one, but I wouldn't rely on it. I also added quick-detachable BNC adapters to mine so I can swap between amplifed and rubber duck within seconds, it also saves the SMA connectors on your equipment from wearing down if you are frequently changing them out.

Works great connected to any one of several of my HTs (Baofeng, AnyTone, etc.) Haven't used it for DMR yet, but for analog with 6W-8W in I get 40W-60W out with the VHF model and a good 40W UHF (I own both,) giving me well over 25+ rural, mountainous miles to hit distant repeaters and others with 50+ watt mobiles, etc. Had one defective unit that I didn't realize was stuck in transmit switched mode so I couldn't receive well, but as soon as I realized it, emailed Amazon and had a replacement in 2 days. The only downside is that the dual-end SMA-Male RF cable that comes with the amp to connect to the HT is a bit flimsy I'm it's connection between the cable and the SMA connector. However again one email to BTECH and the only question was where do we ship the replacement cables to. Product quality is great and customer service is too notch. The only thing I recommend personally is to get a thicker (ex. 195) 2x SMA-M RF cable for your HT connection. Other than that it's a wonderful investment and I would definitely buy again!

I have two of these, the first gen from a few years back and 2nd gen that "works" with digital supposedly. I have had no luck getting it to work with packet radio on my HT. Seems that the amp does not pickup and transmit fast enough to catch the packet transmission from the radio. Works fine for analog transmissions but kind of annoyed that I bought this digital version and can't get it to work with digital. Tried adjusting delay transmission settings in radio, but no go. I will keep it for other purposes though.

BTECH AMP-V25D Review. FCC ID: 2AGND-AMP-V This amplifier is FCC certified Part 90. This is BTECHs VHF amplifier with DMR capability. This amplifier allows someone with a handheld radio to transmit at higher power. There are three ways to connect a handheld radio to the amplifier. The amplifier has a built in speaker as well as a supplied hand microphone. This allows flexibility in operation. The radio's volume control controls the speaker. Audio levels are sufficient. Transmit audio with the included microphone is good. The amplifier includes a power cable with a cig lighter plug, so it must not draw much current, even at higher power. The manual does not provide specifications. Power output is great: Advertised Power Output: 20-40 Watts Measured maximum Output power (Into dummy load):44 Watts with 5 watt input. All in all a good device. I'm happy with it. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I also have the UHF version. This one puts out 45 watts! Pretty good. One thing: This amplifier is illegal to use on GMRS! ALL GMRS equipment must be Part 95 certified for GMRS use. There are no amplifiers with such certification.

I like the ability to increase output power. I like in the country side and this BTech AMP V25D works great.

Perfect for DMR and was very easy to set up with a couple of different option.

It didn't even work for 5 minutes plugged into my car before quitting and smelling like burnt transistors ... and yes I had the appropriate antenna with a VSWR of less than 1.5 and a compatible Baofeng UV-F8RT two way radio plugged into it. I am very disappointed and somehow expecting more for the price. I learned my lesson and I do not trust this brand.
