If you like horror movies, then this movie is for you. It is the best horror movie from 80's. Blu-Ray transfer is awesome, video is full screen, no cinemascope bars. Audio is good too. There is not much low frequency sound for subwoofer because of technology used in 80's but very good.

I watched this film in dribs and drabs when it came out, when I was just a preteen kid. The reason for watching it like that was because it scared the crap outta me! I have never forgotten the scenes where Tina dies on the bedroom ceiling and then when she turns up at school in her bodybag being dragged down to the boiler room. The scene with Nancy in the bathtub freaked me out too!However, being a huge Johnny Depp fan, I felt it was about time to brave the old memories to see his first role in a movie. Being 20 years older or being used to horror movies of todays standards has helped. This was still a creepy, scary film but not overly so.I sat and watched it today while my kids and hubby were out, and I was all alone with the dog! I was very creeped out in places but I am proud to say that I watched the film in it's entirity and thoroughly enjoyed it!OK, everybody goes on and on about the rubbish effects and so on, but they all seem to have forgotten that this film was made 20 years ago. It came along with movies like Halloween and in my opinion, this one is much better all around. There is nothing scary about a man in a mask who never speaks and only kills around Halloween time. Freddy is the ultimate horror character. He doesn't care who you are, or what season it is and he WILL get you should you be foolish enough to avoid the caffeine and stay awake tablets!!!The only problem I had with this film is the fact that all the teenagers seem to wander into darkly lit surroundings knowing that something bad is going to happen but going anyway. Then I realised that they only do it while they're dreaming, and nothing is in your control whilst you are asleep!I fully recommend this movie to any true horror fan. Just remember to set aside all the special effects so widely used today, and sit back and enjoy the ride!
