Aketek0.16" Diameter Small Head Map Tacks Mixed Color Pack of 300

I had looked at the measurements and was prepared for this to be small. It is, but I knew that going in. For those who don't want to measure, I'd say it's the size of a small cantaloupe. What I didn't know what that the layer of cork around the inner core is exceptionally thin, meaning pins only push in a couple millimeters, or less. Consequently, they are difficult to place and fall out at the slightest bump. I purchased the globe as a Christmas present for my husband, and for us to use to track our adventures as we move toward our goal of 50 countries together before we are 50. Trying to pin our European visits was a nightmare. I had to use tweezers to try to place the map pins, and it still proved nearly impossible to do without knocking out some of the pins I'd already placed, and thus it became an exercise in futility and frustration. I was using small head map tacks, not the regular chunky thumbtacks that come with the globe, and still had this issue, but just to be sure, I tried the tacks that come with the product and they are just as pointless. lf the layer of cork was thicker, the small size of the globe (and resulting closeness of the countries/pins) wouldn't have mattered because the pins could have been placed securely by pressing them deeply in to the cork. However, since the cork layer is so thin, it's hardly more than just sort of setting a pin on a round surface and expecting it to stay. This ended up being entirely useless, and at $50, the quality is ridiculously poor. Extremely disappointing; complete waste of money. I notice now that the item name includes "SUCK UK". Aptly named. Save your money.

Great little pins! And they are little, like 1/2in metal part. Perfect for a cork board! I was skeptical that I'd get 300, the bag is so small, but we got 304 pins! Only three heads have broken off and only two or three were too dull, so we're happy. They work great as map pins. Only con is the color distribution. 78 Black, 60 White, 52 Green, 55 Yellow, 52 Blue and only 7 Red. If you need a set number of each color, buy something else, but these are great for our "where we've been" map, where we only need 20 of three or four colors.

Reading map tack reviews here led me to believe that it was all but impossible to score a good deal, but these are it. I ordered 2 packs. I was just hoping to get the full 600, because I heard that other companies will short you. Amazingly, I received about 950 tacks. Furthermore, they were packaged very carefully, and not a single one was broken. Compare this to other options; people are constantly complaining about the heads falling off the pin and so forth. So far, not a problem. They appear to be plenty sharp, and are the listed size. My only complaint would be the color distribution; about 300 blue, 250 yellow, 125 each of red, green, and black, and 30 white. Odd. I was hoping to have a more equal mix, but the good outweighs the bad!

Exactly what I wanted in the product, smallish length with a good size head. The only thing is I doubt there is 300 included in the small bag I received, but I do not want to waste my time counting out every pin. Still a decent purchase for the price though and I have plenty for my usage of marking my map.

These are really cool. When you use them on a wall or in a design to hold something together, you barely notice them. I've used them to hang up pictures and was surprised at how well they work. They seem to stay in place better than a traditional thumb tack. Mostly, they are super cute on a bulletin board and don't stick out, so they just look really good. The round shape makes them easy to remove, too, for being so small. Nice product.

This is the best price that I found for these tacks. They hold good but I'm giving them four stars because colors are not very bright. Also, they come not evenly distributed. I got only one purple and very few red. Mostly white, light yellow, light blue and light green. Nothing compared with what you see on the picture displayed.

Cheap high quality pins! I had a few map pins from Asian stationary stores but they were way too long and was a bit dangerous since they didn't go in all the way.But these pins are perfect for cork board maps as it leaves like a half a centimeter. Came in a lot of assorted colors with many to spare. Shipping was quick too with Prime but I have to admit that the package was extremely wasteful. It came in Amazon's 10x7x3.5 box with a lot of air pillows.

These are good for the price. Since they're pretty cheap though, a couple of them did break when I was sticking them in the wall, which admittedly was pretty hard. Smaller than I expected which was fine, since I was just sticking them on a map.

As advertised. Sharp and pointy.
